Office Politics ~ Working at home or in the office.
This is a luxurious choice we get to make as real estate agents. With technological advances just over the last 5 years, working from your home has become easier!
What works the best do you think? I prefer to work at home because I get up early and can get 2 hours of work done before 7:30am. This gives me time to prioritize other personal "chores" and ultimately I feel happier because I have control over my schedule. I can also follow up later at night on things that aren't urgent during the day...
Yet, when I do go to the office, I realize I may be missing out on some of the "buzz" that comes along with office politics. Listening to phone conversations, watching customer interactions, listening to agents talk about their deals...new listings....new sales....
One can learn a lot from just listening in the office!
I think if you are a new agent, you should work from the office for at least a year. The interactions with other agents (choose them wisely) will typically be very educational. You never know, you might get lucky and land a big deal through a walk in! Once you have built up a business and a following, working from home may be an option for you.
I personally like the option of both! I have an office set up at home and one set up in the main office. This way, I can get my fill when I want with camradery and when I really want to get work done, I do it from home. I save gas and time!
Your thoughts? Can you work at home if you are building a team?
