Fall Color Along Albuquerque’s Rio Grande

Fall Color Along Albuquerque’s Rio Grande

The fall color along Albuquerque’s Rio Grande is quiet spectacular.  As the end of October approaches the wise old Cottonwood trees that line the Rio Grande  (woods along the river) really shine with their golden color.  The Duck, Crain and Geese begin their migration and the Bosque is filled with the business of Mother Nature preparing for a winter along Albuquerque’s Rio Grande.

Hi Marco.  Yep those are the Sandias, they don't look like much in these shots but were also about 10-12 miles away.  Albuquerque goes right up to the foothills of these mountains.  The Sand Pueblo Indians own all the land on the north side of Albuquerque so no development is allowed there, same issue to the south with the Isleta Indians.  Albuquerque is somewhat landlocked except to the west but even then the Acoma pueblo is out west.

Those are really gorgeous photos, John!  Love the colors of the trees and foliage, and the flight of the ducks or crains!  That tree in the last photo appears to be striking a pose:-)

Hi Myrl,  So glad you could come by and enjoy a bit of Albuquerque with us. I have to agree that last picture which is a very old Cottonwood seems to like the limelight.  I think the birds are geese although Sandhill Cranes are quite prominent this time of year.  Regards from The Q

Hello Joan,  I think we have a wonderful city and love to show off her high points.  I know Denver is a special place as well.  Did you know Albq and Denver have near the same elevation.  Make it a good day!

Evelina,  We would love to have you come out west and enjoy the colors with us, but we need to come to the beach soon.
