How dare LOWES do that to a community...

LOWES home improvement stores in one "not so well thought out decision by some suits with cushy jobs" crushed 3 communities in NH closing the Lowes store in Manchester NH Sunday night with no notice to it's employees. Just a n "emergency" meeting at the end of the work day. the Hooksett and Claremont NH Lowes stores were given 30 day notices Sunday night that they will be closing in 30 days (11/13/11). 279 employees are set to be lose ther jobs

Shortly after the emergency meeting trucks pulled in the Manchester lot taking down or painting over the Lowes signs. Someone knew enough to hire them...

Colleen Maiura, spokeswoman at the Lowe's corporate office in Mooresville, N.C., said the company will close the Claremont and Hooksett stores in about a month, following efforts to sell off merchandise in those locations. The store in Manchester was closed abruptly Sunday night and its inventory will be shipped to the Bedford Lowe's location, she said. “The stores that are closing all are underperforming.” as reported in the NH Union Leader.

SHAME ON YOU LOWES.. We accepted you as a community, shopped there frequently and supported you. When the going gets tough, you put our fellow citizens out of work becuase you are not making quite enough..... Thank you

Hi Scott - This is standard operating procedure for Lowes - they've done the same thing in other communities - and it shows their true colors as an employer and corporate citizen. Bad deal.

Adrian it is incredible for a company to treat their employees this way. They just cast them aside.

Lowes is closing a number of stores. The impacted communities will have the challenge to attract new tenants for those locations and new jobs for those employees. It will be difficult time for many of the families.

Commercial leasing agents know what kinds of operations have been able to use former Lowes stores.

Thank you for the comment Roy, i have heard of a couple big box stores looking to enter our market so lets hope one of them can make this work for the future. It is a great loacation. For the workers there has been alot of other area businesses who are hiring due to our low unemployment rate that have been soliciting the wokrers to fill out job app's. it would be nice to get them back to work before the Holidays

Hey Scott, They're closing one in our area also. I always like competition, now the big orange box store has one less competitor. Very tough time of the year to lose your job, well I guess anytime is a rough time. Have a great day!

It is awful on so many fronts, awful for their employess and area residents. the big orange store already had poor customer service, you could never find help when you needed it with competition, now they have no reason to improve.
