Thankful Thursday, 10/20/11

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with RE/MAX Preferred RS152252A

If you aren't bored to tears by now with my Thankful Thursdays posts, this one might be the clincher to get you to stop reading.  I have nothing new or exciting to be thankful about. Nothing extraordinarily good or exceedingly bad has happened to me or anyone in my family.  Business is the same, my weight is the same (a smidge too much) and life is just bumping along as usual.  And I am thankful.  I know someone who's life did not bump along as usual this week.  I know a family who is experiencing a life changingly dreadful week and my heart is breaking for them. I am not an overly prayerful person but I have been praying for this family since Saturday morning.  The outcome is still uncertain.  Life may never be the same.  I will not elaborate and I ask if you know who I am speaking of, that you don't either in the comment section.  Just continue to pray.

It's not the fancy cars, the big houses, the keeping up with the Joneses that make a happy life.  The Joneses are now in foreclosure and the Smiths are probably applying for a loan modification.  If your children are whining and driving you crazy grab them tight and give thanks for them this week.   A little overweight?  Be thankful for the food you have in the house.  A little bored?  Boring is a blessing if it means nothing bad has happened.   If you stub your toe or forget to pay the gas bill, or run out of gas, well, you know what, in the scheme of things, these are very minor problems.

Be thankful for a plain old boring "same old, same old" week.

Be thankful.

Carpe Diem.

Amen sistah. Sometimes, no news is good news. And someone always has it worse somewhere. Our kids have us exhausted, but I have kids to exhaust me. BONUS.

Susan, I and my family are also praying for them.  This was a horrific accident, and we can only trust that there will be a good outcome.

Thanks for the very thoughtful post.  I am sure that the family appreciates not only your heartfelt sympathy, but discretion as well.

Yes I want to read more -- awesome blog!!  Count your blessings EVERY day.   I found a very positive blog site you might like:  JUST LIVE LOVE -- maybe it is on facebook, not a blog or both.

This one resonated with me Susan. Boring can be very good. The life changing days that some have, and I am probably praying for the same ones, make us very thankful for boring times. There but for the grace of God can go any of us..... here's to more boring HAPPY times. Cheers...

Susan I know what of what you speak...and I'm praying for a miracle too. There is and old saying about peoples troubles...if everyone stacked up their problems in a pile and you could chose which pile to take...most would keep theirs and be happy by comparison.

Susan,

We have expanded our "family" through social media and experience living through the good times, as well as the bad times.

I too am feeling very sad right now.

Susan, I find myself tearful tonight for a family that in reality I hardly know outside of social media, yet their loss is still wrenching.  This is not normal state for this engineer.  I'm thankful that everyone in my family is healthy and safe for another day, and I'll take boring, that's okay.  Bill

Rich, you said it.  We have expanded and feel for our friends through good and very bad times.

Margaret, it really puts it into perspective.  You are very special too.  xxoo

Bill, same here.  Aside from speaking online, I've never spoken to one of them and yet I could hardly sleep last night.  Every time we turn our computers on, the world gets smaller.   I only hope that the collective tears and sadness around the world for this family can help them in some small way.
