In my last post I reported the Ultimate Steal. If your student doesn't qualify for that one, this one's the next best thing.
Microsoft has teamed up with schools throughout the country to offer students discounted full versions of Microsoft Office 2007.
If your child's school participates in the Microsoft Student Select Program, you qualify for huge discounts. Microsoft has more information with links to the two vendors who sell through these programs online.
I followed one of the vendor links and looked up my kids' schools. They do participate in the program so I was able to order Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 at the low, low price of $84.98, a savings of $515 over retail!
Microsoft Office Professional Plus includes:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook (no Business Contact Manager but who needs it?lol)
- Publisher
- Access
- Communicator
- InfoPath
- More!
I ended up clicking on JourneyEd. When they look up your child's school you eventually end up at their offer page. If you click on 'purchase' it will also give you the option to verify that you qualify. Don't click on that because it will just take you through the whole school verification process for nothing. As long as you get to their offers page, that means the school qualifies. Just check out as you would at any online retailer. You will be asked to provide proof of your child's enrollment in that particular school. It can be faxed or emailed after the order is placed.
I did not visit the other vendor, OnTheHub, but my guess is that it works more or less the same. If you go there and find out that the same programs are available for less than $85, don't tell me, OK?! lol JourneyEd offers discount on other programs as well. I was doing cartwheels over the Office package so I didn't take time to see what else they have. I am sure it's a handy site to have available next time software is needed.
