Warren County & Cincinnati Area Things to Do October 21-23 2011
Well after two days of rain you're probably looking forward to getting out of the house this weekend! Fortunately the weather forecast is great for the weekend, and there's lots of outdoor activities left to enjoy! Click the links where we have them for more information on the available events!
New events for this weekend only:
Lebanon is hosting the Howl-oween Pooch Parade Saturday afternoon on Mulberry Street. It's the first year, but sounds like a great time! Lots of prizes and categories for dog costumes, so swing by and have some laughs!
This is more on the working side, but if you've got old computer gear in need of recycling, Warren County residents can dispose of those old computers and monitors at the Mason Municipal Center between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday morning.
For another Fall Festival, head up to Waynesville's Hisey Park Saturday for the 6th Annual Hisey Park Fall Festival! All the usual fall festival activities PLUS a Civil War encampment, a native American encampment, a Care Flight fly-by, and volunteers from the Raptor Center with birds on display!
If you're looking for something scary, head to Morgan's Campground in Morrow for the Forest of Lost Souls and Haunted River! It's a unique combination you won't find at other scare-fests! Fridays and Saturday evenings in October!
And we've still got plenty of recurring events for the fall season, so here are some of the repeat events:
- Need to put some BOO in your October? Kings Island's Halloween Haunt is in full scare mode! Lots of haunted mazes, and a good many of rides are open too! Buy your tickets online to get the discount. Go back to the link for more details! And for more Halloween related fun, they've got the Howl-o-Fest from noon-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through October 31! This part is more kid friendly, with costume contests, mazes, petting zoos, foam pits, pony rides and more!
- And the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad is running the Pumpkin Patch Express every weekend in October! You can even pick & purchase your own pie pumpkin at Schappacher Farm as part of the excursion!
And for the farm related events:
- Lebanon's Irons Fruit Farm has a 12 acre corn maze that's now open weekends through the end of October! Saturday's 11-5, Sundays 12-5. Ages 4 and under free, 5-12 $4, 13 & up $6. Located at 1640 Stubbs Mill Rd (turn at the Bob Evans at SR123), they've got fruit, jams & jellies, baked goods and more to offer too!
- Or you can head to Clarksville's Bonnybrook Farms for their Pumpkin and Gourd Festival weekends! And their Giant Slingshot sounds like a LOT of fun too!
- Another option is Waynesville's Keepin' It Country Farm Festival Weekends! More fun here, and barn dances with live entertainment on Saturday evenings!
If you head down to the Cincinnati Zoo, they're hosting the HallZOOween noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through October 23rd. Kids 12 and under can wear costumes and trick-or-treat at the zoo! And they'll have some special activities like pumpkin carving demonstrations, a magic show and special animal encounters!
So we think there's enough here to find something fun for everyone in the family! We hope you have a fantastic fall weekend!
