Nampa Idaho Home Owners......Don't Forget to Blow Out Your Sprinklers

It is that time of the year in Nampa Idaho...Sprinklers

The irrigation systems have all been shut down

So it is time to winterize your automatic sprinkler systems..

Other wise known as blowing out your sprinklers...

For about $25-30 hire some one to come out and turn off the main valve and blow out your system.

It is amazing how much water is still in the pipes when they turn on the air compressors...

This is important so that your sprinklers don't freeze with water in the pipes...

If water freezes in your sprinkler system you could break a pipe and have a pretty good leak next spring.

Peter and Linda....I am so behind on my winterizing schedule...but the nice thing about Tuft....they call me every year to schedule an appointment....so that is one thing done....Did get in the yard to day and hacked at my blackberries!

We don't have the winterizing issues that you have Deborah. That's one of the benefits of living on the west coast. I can honestly say that I have never heard of this type of service - blowing out the irrigation lines. I had no idea. I'm sure the tip will help many however. thanks for teaching me something new tonight.

This is great timely information, Deborah.  With sprinkler systems becoming more popular, it's important that people remember to get the water out of the lines.

Hi Deborah -

Sound advice and sounds like a great price for the service!  We will continue to water once a week in the Albuquerque area until late December then pray for some rain and snow to keep the lawns going.  Then when it's cold I'll be out winterizing my sprinklers too.

Tom....funny how different areas have different maintenance worries....we really do have mild weather in the winter....but still need to blow out the systems!!

Peggy...it sure is important....don't want to waste the water with a broken line!

Q....I hear you on the rain...we had none in September....but quite a bit this month....I do believe that Fall is here!!!
