It's official - my husband is about to become a MUSTANG!
(In case you may have missed this) This story brought tears...of warmth in the heart, of the risk & trials of a military family, of congratulations with his/their achievements, their beautiful family, of the pride of Andrea as the wife & Mom. I am re-blogging in tribute to Andrea & her husband, this wonderful story.
Please go over & pay her blog a visit!!
Thank you Andrea & a HUGE thank you to your husband & Congratulations!!
This blog has absolutely nothing to do with Real Estate - well, except for the part that we live under one roof and share a passion for Real Estate! I'm just so very proud, happy and excited that I just had to share - if I sound like I'm bragging - well, maybe a little, I've earned that right as a military spouse of almost a decade!
IT'S OFFICIAL - MY HUSBAND IS ABOUT TO BECOME A MUSTANG!
Although he's a tall, handsome and strong man - I'm not referring to those characteristics. ;-) MUSTANG is a slang word for a commissioned officer in the United States Armed Forces who was prior enlisted.
WHY IS THIS SUCH A BIG DEAL?
My husband has been serving this country for more than 17 years. It's always been his ultimate goal to become an officer. The road has been a long one to say the least. It's been an extremely bumpy ride at times but he (we) persevered.
He is an FMF (Fleet Marine Force) corpsman by choice, he's earned the title of Doc more than once and has deployed multiple times - Operation Dessert Storm/Dessert Shield, Operation Restore Hope, Operation Distant Runner, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom ... just to name a few. He has seen the good, the bad and the ugly. He has seen it all.
He has given freely, inspired and mentored many and he has saved lives. He studied, took classes and completed his degree while "playing in the sandbox". To top it all off he is also a wonderful daddy and amazing husband. He is truly our hero.
It is such a big deal because it is the ultimate reward for all our sacrifices, the many tears, lonely nights, heart-aches and fears.Deployments are the most frightening experience of my life. There is nothing that can make that better - except to see him walk through the gates at the airport, alive, well and breathing. We have all been impacted by various degrees of PTSD - the girls and I are not exempt. Military life is a crazy life but it's the life we chose and we are a proud military family.
There is a moral to our story if you choose to see it -every goal is attainable, even the impossible ones. It may just be a distant glimmer and the road to the finish line may seem never-ending at times. But don't give up. If you put your mind to it and don't lose sight, you can beat the odds. You may get side-tracked sometimes and that's okay. You may take one step forward and two steps back occasionally but don't beat yourself up over it, you'll be sprinting at other times. Just keep at it and you will reach your goal in time - whatever that may be. I believe(d) in my husband and I believe in you, too!
To my hubby: I am so incredibly proud of you. I love you "t" - forever and a day!
