Hard to get your pet to the Vet? I found a great Portland Veterinarian that makes housecalls!

If you've been following my blogs, you'll probably know that my dog Shadow is a good ole girl that's still going strong at 15 years of age that gets highly stressed going to the Vet.

Anyhow, she's always been neurotic since she was a pup, and to get her in the car and to the Vet has always been an ordeal. Literally, when taking the drive a mile up the road she does this awful wailing cry...as well as pees a few times..the nervous dog spittle and hair flying all over the place. She does not look great sporting a doggie diaper..but hey...what's the alternative right?

Well, as happens being the neurotic dog that she is, the Vet had prescribed prozac for her. Don't laugh..I.fought giving it to her for years...but finally gave in when she had a severe hot spot (called something else). But...my current Vet wouldn't of course keep prescribing it for her unless I brought her in every 6 months...which I understand. Now...being a gentle old dog at over 50lbs, not only do we have to pick her up to get her into the car, but she still does all those other things as well. Veterinary Services dog

Enter in Laura Chang DVM with VET TO PET! She came highly recommended from my Veterinarian and she comes right to you! After chatting on the phone, I called and had Shadows records sent to her. She came today for the first time, and I was so surprised that Shadow went right to her (she must be a pet whisperer).

Not only was she fantastic with Shadow, she had all her equiptment to take a physical. In quick time (didn't rush by any means) she had a urine sample, took some blood, checked her over physically, put her on a scale to weigh her ( whipped this out from her car), called in a new prescription and was on her way.

OMG..no hassle, no pee, no traumatized Shadow!! I love this!

Have a dog or cat..or both that are like my Shadow and get highly stressed when you go to the Vet? Call Laura Chang DVM with PET TO VET. She works through out the Portland Metro area.

does she do house calls in Victoria.......we would love a service like that, so many of our clients have many animal issues....

Hi Peter and Linda, I have a feeling she might not :)). This is really a great service and she really was so good with Shadow. I can see this being a really great business model for areas where there are many seniors that not only have pets that get stressed, but have a hard time getting out themselves.

Hi Frank and Karen, I was driving one day, and had seen a car with a mobile vet sign on the side of it. I thought wow...perfect! I googled it when I got home and then when my current Vet gave me the name I knew it was a good thing.

Hi Debra, it was soo worth it not to have a stressed dog. The last time she got really stressed, she couldn't walk for two days on her hind legs..so I didn't want that to happen. It was like a friend coming over to visit...but while petting her was taking blood...and examining her. Stressless so a very happy endorsement! Hope you're breathing getting better!

First of all, Shadow is a DEAR, love the fur and the face and the fluffiness of her. 15!!! You've mentioned that to me before, but I always marvel...as we're so lucky to have them that long....I wished dogs lived as long as ravens/crows, I believe it is who live for 75 years, I think. (Some bit of mindless trivia I picked up somewhere).

Anyway, I have to bookmark this, because it's incredible to have a vet like that making housecalls--talk about a niche market!

Oh Dawn, Oh, poor Kobi! Are they in pill form? I hope all works with the steroids for him. Man, you sure have had your share of hard things to deal with in these past few months. All to best Dawn for you and your Kobi.

Hi Gayle, it's amazing how much trivia we have in those brains of ours. I'm with you though...wish dogs and cats could live as long as some birds do. I know some parrots live to over 30 years. This is great niche marketing! I bet she is one busy Vet!. She said she loves to be out and about and it's good to meet people and see their homes. I bet it also helps her to see the environment that the pets are in as well.
