How do you feel about painting an older fireplace? I used to have mixed emotions, but after my daughter and I spent 6 months rehabbing her house in Lancaster, PA, I am a convert.
She had a red brick fireplace which had darken soot on its face. My daughter had a vision of painting her fireplace. Since it was her house, I simply told her, “It’s up to you!” I held my tongue, not sure what I thought. She wanted to paint it milk chocolate brown.
Well, today, I stand a convert. I enthusiastically love her milk chocolate brown fireplace. It looks fantastic. I will paint the fireplace in any property I buy from here on in. Check out the before and after pictures. What do you think?
