Kennedy Space Center, Vehicle Assembly Building

Don't forget that Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex is hosting their Free Brevard County Residents weekend through Sunday.

This is the VAB (pictured) Vehicle Assembly Building, and has been used to assemble and house launch vehicles.

It is the largest single story building in the world.

It is the fourth largest building in the world by volume.

The American flag on the side of the building is the largest painted American flag in the world.

If you haven't gotten to KSC this weekend, it's a great way to spend the day. We learned so much. If you do go, be sure to see the IMAX movie on the Hubble Telescope. It was amazing. The pictures were like none I've ever seen before.

Kevin, Yes, you're right. The VAB has four of the largest doors in the world, being 456 feet high. They take 45 minute to open. Sam and Zoe

The 3D IMAX movie on the Hubble Telescope was absolutely incredible. I was mesmerized by it. The photography was like nothing I have ever seen before.

We like to go to the KSC Free Brevard County Residents Weekend each year. I always learn something that I didn't know before. There's so much history here, right in our own backyard.

The Astronaut Hall of Fame is also included with the free weekend, but we didn't have enough time to get there. It was a full day.

The weather was 77 degrees, no humidity. It was a pretty day.

Sometime you'll have to get over to visit KSC. It's a great trip!
