I am remodeling a 3 unit in Lancaster, PA. Earlier I wrote about learning something new when I went to get my building permit. I had to have architectural drawings and HVAC drawings in order to get the building permit. It took several months and about $3000 to get that permit, but I finally have it.
The demolition work is completed and the work has begun in earnest. The kitchen had been located in the rear of the first floor apartment, but is being moved to the front, creating a kitchen/living area. This will greatly enhance the functional quality of the first floor unit.
This week saw the stairs to the basement removed and the area framed in for a new floor. This created more living space and enabled me to add a second bathroom.
The plumber was present to relocate several water lines, the gas line to the second floor apartment and install new water and sewer lines for the additional bathroom and new kitchen. Much work was accomplished this week, creating an internal sense of excitement in remodeling this 3 unit in Lancaster, PA.
Next week will see more framing as we create a new doorway into the one bedroom and close off the former doorway. Framing for the new bedroom will be completed. This will be in prepartion for the installation of new windows and a new gas furnace with air conditioning.
