Sunday Funnies - Origami Boulder, A unique Gift Idea

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with New Paradigm Partners LLC EB #1326335

We're always on the lookout for a great gift idea. There's always someone out there for whom the usual stand-bys - the bottle of wine or tool kit at closing, the thank you gift certificate, the Sunset Magazine subscription - just aren't quite right. Several years ago, we ran across something different - a gift that combines art, humor and thoughtfulness in a truly unique package:

Origami Boulder

The Origami Boulder

Check it out - this guy's website is a real gem, and he has a very special feel for the right way to treat his customers. If you click through, it's really worth browsing his site. We're especially fond of his "performance art" and "haiku" options.

Even though I am not Japanese and can't call everyone a dumb-dumb, I think I need website for my birdhouses.  Which are real...have no haiku or performance art...so I will have to come up with some other add-ons.  That will give me something to think about while Green Bay slaughters my team later.

Oh I can see me calling anyone dumb - dumb and getting away with it.  I called the dog that once and the look I got from the wife as well as the beloved dog was enough for shut me up... LOL.   I'm heading back and re-read this site again just to make sure I didn't over look anything fun and cool.

LOL this is funny. So much for being politically correct, right?

You got me with the first Q&A!

Hi Ron, John & Cathy - Thanks for taking a look at my post today and commenting. I love this idea and I think the website is hysterical. And it is for real - these things actually sell. So, Ron, maybe you should skip all the hard work you obviously do to craft your lovely birdhouses and just wad up some paper.

Hi, Dick. It's not too far fetched since there was a fad called 'pet rock.' If he can get people to buy, then his shtick works. LOL

I am with you, Dick.  Ron could just put a pile of scrap wood in a box and call it a German occupation.

I'll probably get in trouble for that one. Ach tung.

I remember when we were kids and my brother and I begged my mom to get my dad the "turd bird" paper weight. Yep... it was from a horse I think.... with legs and a beak... she said no... but we saved up our own money and got it for him anyway... It might still be on his desk.

Yes it does sound like that pet rock thing back in the 70's, wasn't it.  This guy is funny and  a bit snarky.  It would certainly make people scratch their heads and say......huh?

I like this idea but admit I like the Sunset gig you shared about 3-4 weeks ago. I actually have that on my MUST DO list for all this years clients.

Have a most excellent week and see you on page one in another week (or two max) lol

Peace

Dick, I did go out to his site...thought the Frequently Asked Question's was hilarious.  I do know a couple of clients that I'd like to give a waded up piece of paper to as a closing gift...oh wait, this is a public post...just kidding :))
