Looks can be Deceiving!

Morehead City, NC Fresh Seafood

I think we all agree that looks can sometimes be deceiving.  Take this old blue jeep for instance.  Many people would drive right on by without even considering stopping off for some fresh local Seafood.  But, while the vehicle itself may look pretty rough, the products that High Tide Seafood offer are Fabulous.  Just about any time, if you take the time to look past the jeep, you'll see a tented area, and you'll see a line of folks waiting for their fresh, local seafood.  The next time you are in Morehead City, North Carolina and you're driving down Hwy. 70 West, Stop off at the "Old Blue Jeep" for some fresh, local shrimp, crabs & oysters.

Good morning Amy,

You are right looks can be deceiving. We have lots of farmers that will pull their truck up to the side of the road and sell fresh vegetables..we are seeing less and less of them as they now go to the Farmers Markets where they are welcomed with Open Arms!

Amy - good point; we can judge a book by it's cover too frequently.

Hi Amy,

Sometimes it just takes time to build a comfort zone with local traditions or events. i would not have trusted this situation at first glance. But, then, some of the best BBQ came from a little shack in my home town that out-of-towners drove by.... (I know, I know... North Carolina has a special BBQ and I used a bad example... but you get the idea).

Many times in life Amy it's the off the beaten path or I wouldn't go in there attitude that keeps most from trying and shorter lines for us in the know.

Amy,  You are so right.  If you want honest to goodness, fresh, local seafood, don't go to the grocery store.  Com on!  Stop at the blue jeep where hard working local people are making a living the old fashioned, hard working way.

Love that photo!

There's a great book called, "The Millionaire Next Door" that focuses on just this topic. It's a bit of a dry read, but it's all about perceptions and looks being deceiving.
