Easy, Do it Yourself, Halloween Costumes
I absolutely Love Halloween! Jack-o-lanterns, caramel apples, candy, ghosts & ghoblins...... But the most fun thing about Halloween is dressing up!
Most of the costumes I am going to share with you, can be created with items you already have around the house. Did you know that most “bought” costumes are only worn once, and then they are added to the landfills? Help the environment, save a little money and get creative.
- White Trash! All you need is a large white trash bag and lots of white trash.... Paper towels, toilet paper tubes, etc. Paint your face and hair white and Viola.... You are all set.
- How 'bout a Black eyed pea? Wear solid brown, paint your face brown, and paint a black circle around one eye. You can add a large P to your shirt if you want to!
- One year, I went "Green for Halloween". OF course, I dressed in solid green, carried a Reusable Grocery Bag vs. a handbag, had my "Green" water bottle, and had planet earth pins and patches all over! Carried a sign (On recycled products of course) that read, “I’m Green for Halloween”. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
- My favorite goes out to my friend and fellow REALTOR®, Angie O'bey. Last year at a Bill Gallagher CE Class, she showed up dressed in Fishing Gear. The sign on her Fishing hat read, "Fishin' for Commission"..... If I remember correctly, she won the prize that day for the most creative costume. This would work well in any commission based position.
Of course, You could always throw a sheet over your head, cut out a couple of eye holes and go as a ghost. Or buy some white, purple and red face paint, and deck yourself out as a Zombie (One of my favorites), but don’t forget to rough up your clothes and hair. And then, you always have the option to opt into the popular things like a Hippie (no fun if you are one), or a clown, a witch, or a vampire. Another costume I have seen is a “Cereal Killer”…. But, I’ve seen it often enough that it is too common for me now. Just attach small cereal boxes to your clothes and stab each one with a plastic knife and add some blood and you have a costume.
No matter what you decide to "Become" for Halloween, remember the most important thing is to Have FUN! And if you are going to a party or be walking around the neighborhood, you want to be comfortable too.
Wishing you all a Safe & Happy Halloween
