Around this time of the year people start putting out jack o lanterns, brooms, and other items associated with the wicked and evil things we see on TV and in movies. As time goes on I see less and less of people having a GREAT time with Halloween decorations.
As a new father, I am SO excited about holidays it almost makes me sick. But here are some of my favorite new scenes that you can make yourself!
1) A creepy, but tasteful entryway! Take bare branches, perch them with pumpkins as their bases, and put ravens in them. Add a few jack-O-Lanterns for extra effect, and maybe a tombstone here and there.
2) Cobweb Cookies! Frost your cookies with white icing and starting with the center, draw black circles around them, moving closer and closer to the edge.
Then take toothpicks and again starting from the center, draw a line out. This will move the black icing just enough to give it a great spiderweb look! Add plastic spiders for extra effect!
3) Make little pumpkins into votive holders by scooping them out, adding pipe cleaner spider legs, and then tea lights into the center.
4) Meddle with your Mantle. Make your family photos look old using tools at kiosks. Think aged, grainy and dark. Then matte them on dark gray boards and place then, with some cobweb, of course, on the mantle.
5) Use the Snowman Tactic. Stack pumpkins for a larger canvas. Create eerie scenes and cut out little dots for stars, then light them. The higher they stack, the better!
With these 5 tips I hope you have as much fun as we will be this
season! Remember, it's all
about appearance!
Got any great tips? Share them! I would love to hear/see your plans!
