Travel over Niagara Falls in a Barrel, sure why not??
The Sunset Beach Team headed from Sunset Beach, North Carolina to see Niagara Falls. Will they go over it in a barrel??

Niagara Falls was never meant to be traveled over with a barrel but foolishly the first person to survive the trip over the Niagara Falls was a 63 year old schoolteacher by the name of Annie Taylor in 1901.

Niagara Falls is meant to be admired and viewed from a distance. You didn't really think The Sunset Beach Team would go over in a barrel??

Think of the what the force of water is when 681,750 gallons comes crashing down on you from “The Horseshoe Falls” in a mere second of time from a height of 167 feet. Would you believe the force is approximately 2,509 tons!!

We chose to view Niagara Falls from afar a few different ways. Our first view was as we walked along River Road.  We were able to see Niagara Falls from the walkway.

Did you know that Niagara Falls collectively is three falls.

American Falls/Bridal Veil Falls/Canadian/Horseshoe Falls

The American Falls is between Prospect Point and Luna Island (far left in picture)

Bridal Veil Falls is between Luna Island and Goat Island  (mid left in picture)

Canadian/Horseshoe Falls is between Goat Island and Table Rock (on right in picture)

The Sunset Beach Team's next adventure on the Canadian Side of Niagara Falls will be the Daring Trip on the "Maid of the Mist"
Frank and Karen at Niagara Falls on the Canadian Side

43 years ago we spend our honeymoon there. I've never tired of seeing these magnificent water falls.

Frank and Karen:  I have been to Niagara Falls many times, and it truly is an amazing sight.

Can you go over Niagara Falls in a barrel ?  Sure you can, but you can only do it once... cuz you'll never live to do it again.  Not something you want to mess around with... trust me.

Also... I believe there have been some of those daredevil types who have stretched a cable across the falls, and walked the cable "tight-rope" all the way across.  Strange as it sounds... it's safer that climbing into a barrel.

Niagra Falls is breathtaking and it is quite frightning at the same time. Dare I say I do not wish to stand too close to the edge. And I had no idea that Niagra Falls is collectively 3 distinctive Falls. Thanks for sharing this informative post on Niagra Falls.

Cool.  I LOVE Niagara falls. It's breathtaking.  My favorite part was going in the tunnels and getting soaking wet.  It might be a bit cold now, though.  But the third tunnel...way cool - it feels llike it is pulling you down.

Oh, and I never knew abt the 3rd falls.  Still not sure where it is.

David ~ that is so beautiful to know you were there 43 years ago for your honeymoon. What a beautiful place to vacation. Karen Anne ~ we went into the IMAX theater to see the Niagara Falls movie and the museum and were able to see the stories about the tightrope walkers over Niagara Falls. Amazing feats!! Carlotta ~ the second falls is small in width right next to the American Falls as you travel towards the Canadian/Horseshoe Falls Debbie ~ we plan to return in the spring because we weren't able to do everything in one visit. Tunnels on the next trip and more wineries!!

Such a beautiful sight Niagara Falls is. So glad you guys got an opportunity to break away to check them out. And I'm glad Frank didn't attempt the great barrel trick too!

Hi Karen and Frank, I have some old video footage of when we went a LONG time ago. Much fun. Either you are really short...or Frank is  a LOT taller than he appears. Enjoy your vacation away!
