It's time to start thinking about your 2012 goals!

With the year winding down, it's almost time to start writing those goals for the upcoming year.

Some questions to think about are:

How is your business going?  What is working?  What is not? Where are you ranked this year? Where do you want to be next year?  Who is doing great and what are they doing?

If you are doing great, then congratulations!  Keep doing what you are doing!  If you are not satisfied with where you are... Don't keep doing the same things next year.  It may be time to try something new...

Here's a few ideas that I hope will help:

1. Start writing blogs for local businesses and get them to promote you too.  Take some pictures, describe their business, list their contact information and a map of their location.  These blogs are third-party referrals and I think that they are much better that a website that they write about themselves.  If they promote you with some of their means, that third-party endorsement can be huge for you for years to come.

2. Focus on targeting renters with some drip campaigns to "current resident" to the local high-end apartment complexes.  Do this by knowing how much they pay in rent and by showing them the new homes on the market that they could afford with the money they are throwing away in rent.  I am sure that these cards will get noticed.  Soon everyone will know you and you will be the one they call when they are ready to take the plunge.  If you address it to the current resident, the mailperson has to deliver.

3. Scour the job ads on Monster, Career Builder, job boards, newspapers, etc. looking for openings that might require a relocation to the area due to the complexity of the position.  Then call the manager and ask if you can be on their relocation team to help them land the talent they are searching for.  Offer to do some housing market analysis and take them on a city tour, etc. for their 2nd interview visit as a way to help the managers promote the area along with the job.  While scouring, keep an eye out for large job openings that could translate into more buyers too.  Share your news with people that you know are looking for a job to help a friend/family member too.  We all need to be helping each other in this economy!!  Anybody know anybody looking for a fine arts major graduate in Chicago?  My son is looking for a job there!!! LOL

Hope these ideas help!
