The day that changed my life forever...

...is different for everyone. Whether it be a wedding, birth of a child, new or lost job, death of someone close, or the I should have died experience, you get the point, right? The interesting thing is we really never know what that day will be or when it will come. And, in reality, it is really only that day "for now".

I have had several of "those" days in my life. Each one is very poignant to who and what I am today, and most importantly, who I really believe I am meant to be if only for today.

I was reminded of this yesterday when a friend was recounting his experience with having a brain aneurysm the DAY before. I did not hear fear in his voice at all, although that may come around in the coming days. What I heard was a deep sense of gratitude to be alive, and sincere thanks for the medical teams and life flight crews in the various facilities and hospitals he had "visited" in the prior 48 hours.

His situation is a fluid one as the tests are done to determine the best course of action. I am sure that many prayers will be uttered, and conversations with those he holds most dear will be had. But as he put it yesterday, "It clotted. Had it not, I would have died. What's next?"

What I took from that is the message we all have heard more than once. My best day is TODAY. I just have to remember to clear away the clutter and focus on what is most important. My job is to be a better husband, father, friend today than I was yesterday. If I am successful in this, everything will fall into place as it is meant to be, rather than how I think it should be.

This is true with my clients as well. My job is to do the job whatever it may be, rather than complain about things the other side may or may not be doing. I must admit that this one is very difficult for me to remember sometimes, but it is nothing more than my good day falling right in the middle of someone else's bad one.

Paul, thanks for sharing honestly yesterday. You really helpd me remember what is most important. Be well my friend.
