Firing Range Training

Police Department Firing Range, behind Flaherty Park Community Center
Residents in the area are advised that the Wake Forest Police Department will conduct firing range training at the police department firing range, located behind the Flaherty Park Community Center. The firing range is utilized by Wake Forest Police officers who require instruction and practice in order to obtain current certification in the use of firearms. Trick or Treat at the Market

Wear your costume and get a treat from the market. Singer/Songwriter Joe Woodson will perform. The Wake Forest Farmer's Market is open from 8 am to noon. The market offers pasture raised meat, free range eggs, fresh picked produce, art and crafts. American Legion Post 187 will be there. The Master Gardeners will also be on hand for their last weekend at the market for the year. Triple B Farm will be cooking up their sausage biscuits (weather permitting). Here is an opportunity to help SAFE Haven (local community animal shelter) with our everyday items needed to continue fostering healthy, alert and hopeful cats - ready for adoption. Individuals can participate by coming out on Saturday and taking a copy of our wish list & purchase items; bring a couple of items from the list to Wal-Mart to help the truck; or make a donation for the cause. Our most urgent needs are paper towels, 55-gallon garbage bags, latex gloves - small, medium, large, HE laundry detergent, toilet paper and distilled water. Rabies/Microchip Clinic

Operation Medicine Drop

Following a successful spring collection, the Wake Forest Police Department will partner again with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Safe Kids North Carolina to sponsor a fall medicine drop-off event at town hall. As part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the police department will host Operation Medicine Drop on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the ground floor meeting room of the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St. The room is most easily accessed via town hall’s Taylor Street entrance. The police department offers Operation Medicine Drop as a prescription and over-the-counter medication take back initiative that promotes proper medication disposal. By providing a safe and secure way for people to get rid of unwanted pills, tablets, and other medications, Operation Medicine Drop helps prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse while also protecting local rivers and streams.
