Sugar Land is a unique community in that billboards are not accepted. All company signs are what is termed Monument style. Signs stay very close to the ground. The city wants to maintain a strong connection with the environment and allowing all residents to have a full visual of the beautiful blue skies is just one approach. Another requirement is all community developments must allocate a fairly large portion of their land to parks and other community events. For example the community of Riverstone when fully complete will consist of over 250 lakes with 500 acres dedicated to open parks, spaces, and recreational facilities. This will include 20 miles of hiking and bike trails.
Last but surely not least is the soon to be built baseball stadium which will be home to a minor league baseball team. The team will compete in the Atlantic League playing 140 games per season.
