The new (and only) Spokane Trader Joe's opened today and I didn't go! Imagine that! Here I am, a self-proclaimed foodie who has befriended every non-GMO, anti-Monsanto, sustainable agriculture, support-a-local-farmer group on Facebook. I read EVERY label on EVERY piece of food that I feed my family. I actually emailed Trader Joe's about a month ago to find out if their products are GMO-free. * I frequent the Spokane Farmers' Market and grow whatever I can in my backyard garden. And, yet, in spite of my love for good food, I missed this once in a lifetime opportunity! Sigh. . . .just couldn't bring myself to fight the crowds.

The new Spokane Trader Joe's is located on the corner of 29th and Regal on Spokane's South Hill. It is in a strip mall with several other stores and that parking lot was OVERFLOWING! The anxious shoppers were even parked on the street. Now, I liked the Trader Joe's I visited in California and am happy that we have another store that sells many of the foods I prefer BUT, folks, this is food! It is not a limited edition. They will have the same stuff tomorrow and the next day and the next! From what I understand, all they were giving away free was a reusable shopping bag . . . so, since these shopping bags are in such high demand, I am offering to purchase not one, not two, but TEN Trader Joe's shopping bags for each of the next ten people who buy or sell a house with me! :) Just mention this blog post and you have a deal! :) Oh, heck, I'll even throw in a bottle of two-buck Chuck as a house-warming gift!

So, hurry on in and visit or call me today, BEFORE ten other people beat you to it! My office is conveniently located just one block from the new Spokane Trader Joe's at 3124 S. Regal! Look forward to seeing you soon!

*in case anyone is wondering about the GMO's in Trader Joe's food, their response was that their Trader Joe's branded products do not contain GMO's but some of the other products they sell in the store do.

John - It is always nice to have the stores you love close by!

Jennifer - Do they have them out East yet, or are they mainly a West Coast phenomenon? I don't know about those bags having takers but can't blame a girl for trying! :)

Love Trader Joes too - it's one of our regular stops. As is Whole Foods, I too am careful to eat healthy foods. I like your idea - we use Two Buck Chuck red and white for our sauces. :)

Joni - Me neither until I hit the West Coast! It has actually been years since I have been in one and that was before I became so aware of what is in the food I eat . . . .will be interesting to visit with my new perspective!

Debb - I remember years ago when Two Buck Chuck won some wine tasting competition and really upset the wine snobs. I tend to not like "good" wines as they are not sweet enough for me, but it would be great stuff to use for cooking!

You need to get ready to fight the crowds for a while. Trader Joes is always a busy place in Albuquerque! Like I said earlier so glad we're getting another one maybe it will take some of the crowd load off the one we now have.

Hi Valerie. The only thing that kept me away is 2883 miles and the Pacific Ocean.....currently in Honolulu. I know, I know. Tough duty. I'll be shopping at Joe's as soon as I return. Experienced 2 new things on this visit. Halloween is really a big deal in Waikiki! And the Saturday farmers market on the campus of Kapi'olani Community College was as crowded as K-mart during a blue light special. Flowers, fruits, vegetables, chocolates, cooked & raw seafood, homemade sauces, jams/jellies, music, iced beverages and much, much more! Not to be miissed! A foodies paradise. ..... And of course bring your own shopping bags.......Trader Joes or not. : )
