Is it all really about being in the right place at the right time?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Is it all really about being in the right place at the right time? There is a pervasive underlying conviction that most successful people were fortunate enough to be in the “right place at the right time.”

And while it’s true that kismet occasionally delivers an unexpected boon, the reality is that success is attainable for anyone that is willing to work for it.

Consistent and focused effort is the catalyst that fuels the engines that drive business to your door. Nobody has ever succeeded by sitting and hoping that something will happen.

Some wait for fate to intervene.

Others direct their own destiny.

Those who are prepared and working it and out there networking are far more likely to be in " the right place at the right time." They have opportunities that other people don't because they are constantly on the lookout and they touch a lot of people on a daily basis.

Richard...it's often been said that one of the keys to making yourself stand out on the job is "just showing up".

Many don't.

Richard-very well put, reminds me of the person who has worked years perfecting their craft and then all of a sudden they become an overnight success.

Richard, I'd agree it's a combination of the two.  We have to do the work to create the conditions for success, but if we write that blog post today that someone was looking for yesterday....darn.

So true Richard!  Even if you sit and wait for fate, you have indeed directed your own outcome.  Great post!

Ginny...

You are so right about that! I hope that we will see a follow-up FreddicMac post about a successful close of your deal and how you did it! Have a great Saturday.

Sara...

Absolutely. It's all about taking control of your own destiny. Thanks so much.

H & S...

It sounds so simple, doesn't it? Thanks for jumping in this morning.

Adrian...

Did you know that the Beatles played together for eight years before they became an "overnight" success? Excellent point and thanks for bringing it up!

Bill...

Oh yes, sometimes timing is everything! But hey, that's show business. Thanks my friend.

Lisa...

That is actually very profound. Doing nothing does indeed lead to its own brand of outcome. Thanks so much for adding to the conversation.

Dorie...

You find find it in front of the TV either, despite what all those 3 A.M. infomercials tell you. Thanks and have a great Saturday!

Good morning Richard. Terrific post. I like the positive attitude you express. Timing is important but readiness also has to be present. Have a safe and productive day.

Richard, what a great post! Hard work, knowing your craft, not being afraid to take risks, hard work again... and being consistant. Sitting and waiting isn't really such a hot idea.

I'll take them both, Richard.  I sold three houses this week because I just happened to bump into folks.  It was a crazy.  I don't think I can market that as a marketing plan!

Last month, I was holding an open house and a man came through very quickly and muttered something about "this won't do"; but we saw a house up the street can you show us.  My partner took over the open house, went up the street and wrote an all cash offer right then and there (since closed); plus took a listing on their existing home in a high end neighborhood.      The open house almost didn't happen that day.  You never know.

Hello Richard,

I would definitely say that hard work and good management will take you places... But have to say that it is always helpful when you can have a "hand" from a friend who can refer.
