Happiness is pets - Can I see your breeders?

Happiness is pets in Chicago should be held libel for fraud.  They have a fancy new website with a section called "Happiness is pets and puppy mills."  Take a look at the site and see the cages, they are like aquariums.

They put the puppies in the aquariums with the plastic or wire bottoms so their little paws fall through all day and night.  Nobody there to oversee them at night.  What if they have to go out in the middle of the night?  They just sit in their poop. And what about during the day?  Has anyone EVER drove by a puppy store and seen puppies outside?  Nope, they are stuck in the cages.  I wonder if they find dead dogs in the morning after leaving them alone all night in the store.  Sometimes puppies have seizures and all other kinds of things....they're puppies.  They should be watched all day and night while they are in their puppy years.  NO REPUTABLE BREEDER would even think of doing this to their puppies.

I want to see the parents of these great dogs happiness is pets.  How come every time I call one of these stores and ask this question, they hang up on me?  Do they teach them that?  Why can't we see the parents of the highly bred dogs?  What are you hiding hip?  Oh wait, I forgot, you're hiding the puppy mills.

Here are some quotes from the fancy new website:

"A multitude of animal rights organizations have pushed this term on almost anyone who profits off the purposeful breeding of dogs, regardless of the care and conditions the dogs may be in. These groups will use images from one substandard kennel and label it as the industry standard. These images include emaciated, matted up, pathetic looking dogs packed in rusty cages surrounded by fly covered feces."

Soooo....hip....you don't use this breeder, Marty Gadient picture shown?  You are LIARS, this is where my dog came from.  She has stage four luxating patellas, her paws are black from licking and she cannot sit still. It will cost me $5000.00 or more to correct her knee caps from floating out every time she takes a step.    "These groups will use images alright you liars, because the images are from YOUR BREEDERS."

"It is fundamentally impossible for “Puppy mill” dogs to yield quality puppies. Because Happiness Is Pets partners with quality, professional breeders we are confident to offer a cash-back warranty that is absolutely second to none."

These are NOT quality professional breeders, you are liars once again...they are puppy mills run by some of the most horrendous breeders known in the midwest.  What does "fundamentally impossible" mean?  Oh yeah, wait, it means if a few hundred die before we pick the ones we want for the store, who's gonna' know?  How many dogs die before they pick the one that will sell?   A cash back warranty for a puppy?  What is that?  Like a lamp or table?  You think nothing of these dogs and treat them like they are a piece of furniture.  You give "instant $1200.00 credit, no credit check required."  You don't care who buys the puppies.  You don't care these dogs may be abused.  You don't care these dogs may go to people who will use them in dog fights.  You don't care about anything but the money.  Blood money in your pockets you made off of dogs living in hell.

Thoughtlessly labeling all professional breeders as “puppy mills” is tremendously prejudicial. The breeders that Happiness Is Pets partners with take exceptional care of their animals.

Cannot even comment on that last quote....pictures don't lie, but happiness is pets does.

Leroy & Gertrude Kruse - pictures below.  Visit The Companion Animal Protection Society www.caps-web.org for the undercover investigations on Steve Kruse, their main breeder.  Very disturbing breeders this place uses.  Go to youtube and search "Levi Graber" one of happiness is pets breeders.  There is a video on there of a dog eating another dog.  Very disturbing and these are responsible breeders hip?

It's a difficult truth to accept. Most people do not want to see or read about this stuff because it's upsetting, but I feel that as bad as it is to see and read, what about the helpless animals that have to live in these conditions? They need us to be aware of what's going on and help to change things. These pet stores are making a lot of money so they are willing to sell their souls. It's a billion dollar industry. And what about the consumer who is overpaying for a puppy that comes from parents who were not checked for health and genetic issues before they were bred? The Vet bills can be overwhelming. If the puppy is healthy, they are one of the lucky ones.

Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight.  ~Albert Schweitzer

It's NOT true that activists are against all breeding. Responsible breeders are NOT USDA breeders because they only keep a few animals in their homes. They care about the breed and make sure the parents are free of disease and genetic problems BEFORE they will even breed them. There are Xrays to rule out hip dysplasia or  luxating patellas and Vet exams along with ongoing care.  They would never sell to a pet store or online because they care about who is buying their pups. USDA breeders have hundreds even thousands of animals kept in outside kennels all year long for most of their lives. They are classified as LIVE STOCK and if you read the USDA reports on these breeders it will break your heart if you have one.

These pet stores lie to you face. I went into Petland and they told me they did not use puppy mills. I fought to get breeder info n a dog and when I read the USDA report on Linda Bean of Bean Hill's Z-P-D Kennel in Appleton, MO. They wrote her up year after year for not providing adequate shelter and pilling dead animals and animals parts by the kennels and in the freezer and fridge! Sounds like a Stephan King novel only worse. They never shut her down and she  is still in business today. There are 70 USDA inspectors and over 5000 puppy mills so they don't go back and check to see if anything was fixed anyway. On top of that, the USDA has loaned millions to the HUNTE Corp, the biggest puppy mill broker in the country and then they are put in charge of enforcing the minimum standards of care for these abused animals.

Google Kathy Bauck from Minnesota. She was convicted of animal cruelty and animal torture and the USDA did NOT close her down. They "suspended" her license for 2 years and she was allowed to keep hundreds of animals. She is still selling retail and on the internet. That tells me that they can do what ever they want to their "livestock" and they can commit Consumer Fraud and lie to the consumer and no one will do a damn thing about it. Wake up people! Only we can shut them down, by NOT spending money in their stores or on the internet.

It seems like the USDA is to blame for allowing this to go on.  There is a Move On site you can go to to start your own on line petition drive to advocate for just causes.  I can't remember the exact URL at the moment but will bookmark this post and rsearch it.  If we could get a massive on line petition drive going to the USDA to put a stop to this stuff, maybe something could get done.  The internet is changing the face of advocacy and this certainly is one of the most just causes I can think of.  I'll get back to you.

Dee - so true, thanks for the comment!

Jeff - you know your stuff!  The Hunte Corp delivers all over the US and how disgusting is that?  They take puppies and put them in their semi trucks and deliver them to pet stores.  How many dogs are dead when they get there?  More people need to be aware and spread the word that over 4 million companion animals die in our shelters every year.

Leslie - Yes, there are many petitions, causes, etc, to end puppy mills.  We all have to spread the word and make selling cats and dogs in pet stores illegal!

The only people who can make something illegal are the legislators who make the laws.  State and federal legislators.  A petition drive to the legislators of the state or states where these puppy mills are located would get some attention. National attention can be gotten through www.change.org/petitions . Once you start the petition drive through them it can be sent out in a massive web through e-mails, facebook, twitter, etc. Once you've gotten the desired number of signitures, change.org will deliver the petition to the desired legislators.  Worth a try.

A few weeks ago I witnessed Linda Bean of Bean Hill's Z-P-D Kennel in Appleton, MO. reply to this blog about her kennel and it never got posted on here and would like to know why? I live near her and her kennel and none of the above was ever done or true. I dont know where this man got this information but its total lies. Its ashame that there are kennels around that do such things but Linda Bean of Bean Hill's Z-P-D Kennel in Appleton, MO. is not one of them. She has shelter for all her dogs and maintains all her dogs to the best. She is overly cautious with her dogs and if she has a question about any one of their health or more, she contacts her veternarian. I also will guarntee there is no pilling or animals in freezers. All this person had to do is look her up and call and talk to her and/or go see her place of operation to know that what he said is total lies. This Jeff Nicholson needs to do his research better than making accusations. But then just cause you hear of the bad kennels then all of the kennel operations must be bad too. You are so wrong. I may not be a person to operate a kennel, but I do own my own dogs and know a good operation versus a bad one.

Ummm....Sheri?  How do you witness someone posting to a blog?  Maybe she didn't have the brains to hit the enter key.  There is no reason in the world that would prevent her from posting here.  Feel free anytime...and may I visit her kennels since you seem to think she is such a good breeder?  Let's get her address so everyone can see how good she treats her dogs.  When can someone see her kennel?  Let me know!

Puppy miller Linda Bean's inspection report above.  66 dogs and 23 puppies at the time of this inspection.  Violations year after year....let's see YOUR kennels Linda Bean.  Go to the USDA and look her name up or her license number 43A4997.  Her poor dogs were living in feces and waste with contaminated water.  4640 NW 751 Road Appleton City Missouri, Bean Hills ZPD Kennel, come on down folks and take a look!

My dog also came from HIP and I traced it back to being "bred" at Gadient Kennel in Cascade, Iowa...my poor baby has never had a healthy day but we will care for him and he's 8 1/2. We got him at the HIP in Downers Grove. I despise these ppl for the horrible ways they breed these dogs. My poor dog didn't stand a chance of a normal life because of their thoughtless actions. I will love him until the dog he passes but I'd like to see these ppl pay for their harsh actions on animals.
