Is this whole Kardashian thing, an insult to the average struggling "joe"?

By

I don't know about you, but I find this whole Kardashian storyline absolutely sickening.  Millions of dollars were spent on a wedding that was flaunted in front of the public where less than three months after, divorce proceedings are being initiated.

What must the average hard working (or the unfortunate out of work) "joe" think of all this?  I find it insulting that such lavishness was flaunted during a time when so many folks out there are probably struggling to pay for their own daughter's wedding, not to mention folks losing homes and losing jobs.

Shame on these high profile money hungry celebs and the networks that showcase them.  I'd have much more respect if they were showcasing their philanthropic endeavors or community service work.

And to think, up until yesterday, I really had no idea who Kim Kardashian even was.

Faith...I'd give ANYTHING to have Carol Burnett back on the air!  Gotta love great shows like that!  And you're right...multi million dollar weddings.  That's NOT "real!"   Thanks for the visit and have a great day!

I'm with you, Doug!  Like I said....I didn't even know who this chick was.  Have a terrific day and all the best to you!

Karen- it's just another sorry example of part of our society that gives celebrity status to people who have done nothing to deserve it.  For anyone to spend $10 million on a wedding is unthinkable.  And yes... I'd love to see Carol Burnett back on!

It put people to work! But it certainly insults the institution of marriage.

I think the whole thing was designed to generate money, which is has definitely done.  The trick is whether or not they've undermined their whole media empire with a clear "stunt".

Agree with you 100%, Kathy!  Thanks for chiming in on this one and have a great day!

Hi Leslie!  Well, maybe some "temp" jobs were created, but that's about it.  And I do agree with you that the sanctity of marriage has been completely insulted!

Boy they did generate big time, Bryan, that's for sure!  Again, wouldn't it be nice to hear what sort of donation efforts they made with all those funds!  Thanks for your visit...always appreciated!  Have an awesome afternoon!  :)

Karen I heard on the morning news (and yes it's crazy that this makes the first 1/2 hour on national morning news) .... where was I?  Ah....yes they didn't pay a dime for the wedding, the sponsors did AND apparently she make 17,000,0000 on the event.  What????????

I heard some of that same reporting, Anna; totally crazy indeed!  And yes, it's a shame that stuff like this becomes a media frenzy.  Hello folks, we still have service members making the ultimate sacrifices overseas and we barely hear about those brave men and women.

Kim who?

I actually did see a news report about her divorcing after 70+ days.   Wow, they must have tried EVERYTHING to make that marriage work!  I mean, 70 days!  If they made money from the wedding I guess that would explain the marriage, because it makes no sense otherwise.

Hey Kat.  Since I had no idea who the Kardashians even were, I really didn't know if this was a "make sense" wedding or not.  I had seen Kim on Rachel Ray's show one morning.  Evidently Rachel supplied the food for her bridal shower.  Kim was talking all gooshy-ga ga like over her new hubby.  Weird......

John, I'm afraid you're probably right.  And agreed...VERY SICK with so many unfortunate people here in our country.  Exactly my point!  All the best to you m'friend!  :)

Hopefully she will go away now.   Unfortunately she probably won't.   I refuse to watch these kind of shows.  I loved Carol Burnett too.

Karen...just boycott everything Kardashian...... ALL the shows that portray women behaving badly are such an insult to ALL women who have morals, have manners, are polite and considerate and show compassion and kindness whenever.... As soon as the wedding was announced over TV, I told my Mom: "I give it 2 months", I was close. I have never been able to figure out why celebrities (so called) bother to get married, they never mean it or understand the committment of the marraige vows....

Karen, it seems that way too much "crap" is on the tv today. (starting to sound like my dad)

The whole reality tv just doesn't seem like any reality that I know. I guess it is entertaining, lots of people tune in. I just don't get it.

Jim, I have no idea what show she was even on.  I must live under a rock or something.  And yes, Carol was a true entertainment icon!  Have a terrific day!

Hi John!  Did you mean "what" trash or WHITE trash?  lol  Hope you are having a lovely day in the Bay!  :)

Good morning, Teri!  It does seem that those seeking the limelight are never committed to their vows, agreed.  There are a few out there, but those are the ones who don't make the tabloids...I have respect for those celebs.

Tom, I'll give you some slack for sounding like your dad.  ;-)   Enjoy the day!

Karen, I still don't know who Kardashian is.  I don't live under a rock, but I have seen the name in the news.  I do have a very good BS filter installed long ago in my "brain housing mechanism" that eliminates much of the crap that passes for news or entertainment these days.  Unfortunately so many people get caught up in the TV hype almost as if they are living vicariously through the lives of people seen in the news.  As you said it also sickens me what some people feel is important in life.

I try very hard not to pass judgment on others' view of what's important, but with that said I'll never understand the mind set that keeps people tuned into: the Kardashians, Americas Next Top Model, Americas Got Talent, Jersey Shores, any of the "Real Housewives" embarrassments, TMZ, anything about Paris Hilton, Big Brother, the Bachelor/Bachelorette, Blind Date, Bridezillas, Jerry Springer,....the list goes on and on with no end in sight...I think this is the real dumbing down of America.

I know I've probably offended a few people and I'm sure some of the things that I think are important or like to do might be viewed as unimportant or lacking value, but hey...that's just my opinion and 2 cents worth.

Nick I absolutely love your candidness!  No offense was taken here, believe me!  Keep on your roll!  Are all those shows on the Crisco channel?  Sorry, couldn't resist!  lol  ;-)

Karen, you may be right, but personally I think the "Crisco" channel would be a little too high brow for some of those programs.
