October Is Over and I am Sad

baseballLet me apologize in advance to my friends in Denver, CO-- but I was rooting for the Sox this time, just like I was in 2004.  I just love those Red Sox!

I won't go on and on and on about them...  But- come on!- what was with that crazy look that Kevin Youkilis displayed every time he stepped up to the plate?  He looked like a madman possessed.  It was a riveting offense.  Manny Ramirez, in all his enormity, looked like he was having beers while waiting to step up.  Just totally relaxed and totally confident.

In game one, Colorado's starting pitcher, Jeff Francis...  Well, I actually felt bad for the guy-- and I'm not being condescending.  The close-ups on his face showed all of the stress (and sweat) of pitching to the baseball heroes that he knew he was pitching to.

I think the Rockies were just plain shocked and scared into losing.  The weathered veterans from Boston made those rook Colorado pitchers crack up-- right there in front of God and everyone else.  It was a meltdown.  But you know what?  The Rockies are a classy bunch of guys and before the sweep, I actually thought this was going to be a 6 or 7 game series.  I thought the Sox would win, but I'll admit right now:  Never in four, I thought.

Anyway, I could gush about the boys of summer all day long, but that probably isn't appropriate.  I feel like it's in the same class as "politics."  Don't discuss baseball with just anybody.  I realize some people hate the Sox and actually like the Yankees, so (now that I wrote almost everything I wanted to write), I'll move on.

Thinking about baseball today, actually wishing that Colorado had stopped the bleeding so I could watch more baseball...I decided to see if there were any good baseball-to-real estate analogies on ActiveRain.  Or baseball-to-anything analogies.  Come to think of it, they don't even have to be analogies.  Just good articles about baseball on ActiveRain.  How's that?

If I missed anyone, you have my apologies.

Chicago Cubs and Active Rain:  Great little lesson about the importance of blogging about things other than real estate at times.  The importance of being yourself.  Short read; good lesson.

Joke - Baseball Heaven?:  Is there baseball in heaven?  There must be!  A little joke...

Baseball Rules!:  Here is one of those analogies I was looking for.  Mona Lisa Matthews compares baseball to being a Realtor and life in general.

Real Estate and Baseball - Are you in the game?:  An all-around well-done post.  I think her best point is "Build It And They Will Come," but that's just one excellent point among many.

Clearwater, Florida ~ Home to Baseball with a Bite:  My friend Cyndee Haydon writes about her Clearwater, Florida farm team. I realize that this seems to apply only to Clearwater, FL-- but not quite.  I wanted to include something about farm teams, because they are a great way to get cheap advertising.  Look into it; you'll be glad you did.

I have been a Sox fan since I was about 6 years old. So that's at least 47 yrs. My grandfather and I have witnessed Red Sox World Series but my father never did. How sad to live your whole life and never experience a World Series. 2004 was really special. This year was sweet. There will be a few changes next year but the Sox have a lot of young talent that really produced this year. It would be nice to see them repeat.

Spring training is only 4 months away. LOL

Jay-- I feel your pain...or the pain you once had.  2004 was the most amazing pennant race that I have ever seen or will likely ever see again.  You are right-- it was special.  I haven't been a Sox fan my whole life, but I hope I can be part of the nation.

Missy-- Of course I love the Tigers, because I grew up loving them.  In Tempe, AZ-- I watch the Angels play all March in Spring Training, so the Angels are my west coast team.  Then there's the Sox.  It really helps to love 3 teams; more to watch!

Gotta Love Those SOX!!!!  Being born and raised in Boston and living just a stone's throw from Fenway there is no way I could ever root for another team!  I was sitting here yelling at the TV!  And then Jonathan Papelbon was on Letterman last night - he's a hoot!

I have been a Red Sox fan for many years, but I have to say that the Rockies showed class. In a way I wanted the Rockies to do better after being spanked in game 3. I agree with you that we need at times to talk about something else besides Real Estate. Still, I can't wait for the Red Sox to come to Fort Myers during spring training.

Perhaps the best team after the red Sox is Cleveland. " I feel for Carole Cohen."2004 was for the past, the uncles, the grandfathers, the grandmothers, the past.2007 was for us".One of the owners of the Red Sox said. ( not the real quote ). The Yankees do have 26 World Series wins, but they haven't won for seven years ( aka the Evil Empire lol).Perhaps it is the start of a Red Sox Dynasty.

Karen - I understand your frustration. I get frustrated with technology when I can not figure out why its not working. When it malfunctions it  doesn't include the state it just leaves a dash. Although yesterday it said Welcome from Virginia and I am in MASS.

Write what you want Karen (It's great!) - I just don't want to see another story about Boston being the new Bad Boys of Baseball.  I feel a little sick....

Aziz-- I really don't follow football at all.  I can't say I'm a fan.  I like baseball because it is so tense and a pitcher having a meltdown can change everything.  I have to admit though, I watched a few Colts games this season and watching those unbelievable pass completions just might get me interested.

Jennifer-- I didn't really celebrate too much.  Just yelled at the television with my husband.  Neighbors must think we're crazy.

I just don't understand baseball, which I affectionately call basebore.  I am a fan of whomever the person I am giving a listing presentation eludes to.  A few weeks ago I was  Boston fan, next week, who knows.

Karen, at the end of the day I expect the Sox to win. I would have enjoyed the WS lasting a little longer. Watch out this could be next year as the Cubs Fans would put it. Already looking forward to next Spring. I hope to catch the Cubs in late June in Chicago.

Chris-- you are naughty...and smart.  Basebore?  Try this:  Pick a team at random and put $200 on a game.  Then watch.  You won't be bored, I promise.  Not that I advocate gambling; but really-- I've seen grown men almost cry.

Karen,

What killed the Rockies was that 7 or 8 day layoff between series...If you like baseball and still want to 'stay excited' about it, pickup a copy of 'The Sporting News'...it's a tabloid style 'newspaper looking' publication...it's really great! Thanks,   Fran

Oh Karen, you are the best. Baseball is my mistress, my wife knows it, and has learned to tolerate it. Read all of the links you had in your post, there great. And I have to say it is awesome that all but one of those posts were from women that love the game. I love that.
