Charity Run & Walk for Fun – Change of Venue
The first Viva Las Vegas Run & Walk for fun will be held on Saturday November 5, 2011 and will cover a 5 K course. Registration is at 7: 30 A.M. with the walk and run scheduled to start at 8:15 A.M. The event originally was to be held at La Centerra at Cinco Ranch on Cinco Ranch Blvd. Due to serious potential traffic issues the event has been moved to Bear Creek Park on the jogging trail. The entry fee is $20 per person before November 4, 2011 and increases to $25 per person on race day. Payment has to be made via either cash or check made out to the CCFA. Please make sure you check into the Registration table prior to the events beginning if you are participating.
The race is supporting the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). All walkers and runners are encouraged to don Las Vegas attire (whatever that means) with prizes awarded to the top three costumes. Costumes need to be appropriate even though this is a Las Vegas theme event. Participants can be from all age brackets.
CCFA is a non-profit volunteer basically driven organization. Its goal is to find a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis while at the same time trying to improve the daily lives of those affected with these conditions.
We know a person who had Crohn’s disease for several years and this disease is a terrible condition to have to deal with. Many charitable organizations are hosting their own fun run and walk events to raise donations nd the bad economic climate probably makes these types even more important than normal to many of these non-profit groups.
