Community Gardens in Golden
What does community mean to you? To the people at the Golden Community Garden, that is you... to chat and get to know about you and for you to get to know other gardeners, making a circle of harmony of community. And just watching everyone growing vegetables and/or flowers with mother nature, gives such positive energy. Their goal through the community garden is to enable members of Golden's community to work together to organically grow fruits, vegetables and flowers for our families and our community. The garden will also be a green space where all Golden residents and visitors can enjoy nature's beauty and engage in meaningful conversation. They are seeking volunteers, if you are interested, please call at 720-204-1755.
If you are east of downtown Golden there is also a community garden in your area! Gardeners see the world differently. They also have more positive ratings of physical and mental health. More than 60 residents established a community garden on land owned by Applewood Church. Denver Urban Gardenshas helped them organize this coop of 24 plots of 10x13 feet. Since breaking ground on April 21, the community gardeners have turned this vacant lot into a wonderful garden. They often host open houses throughout the year and also take volunteers. Community gardens promote stronger neighborhood leadership, outreach, and volunteerism, so get involved!! For more information about the Applewood Community Garden, visit the church's website here!
