Trader Joes comes to Louisville Ky We Welcome You

Louisville Trader JoesWell after about a year of discussions, anticipation and construction- Louisville Ky finally gets it very own Trader Joes.  The new location in the St. Mathews area of Louisville opened last week and the lines were out the door-so I drove on by waiting for a better (and less crowded) opportunity to stop by and see what all the fuss is about.  The history of Trader Joes is well documented- a unique concept of the corner market started in the 1950's. I does seem that every community wants one- I know Louisville did as almost 500 people joined the Facebook page 'Bring Trader Joes to Louisville.'

I finally bit the bullet and went to the store Monday and was pleasantly surprised.  It was still crowded and the shelves were a little bare- but as a former retail person I completely understand why.  The one thought that I came away with is that despite the crowds, the stress, and the pressure with opening- the staff was great.  I did not buy any food products but did pick up a bottle of wine for the tidy sum of $3.17 with tax included. The gentleman that waited on me took his time talking to me, explaining why the wine is so cheap and giving me a few seconds of the history.  I felt good about my visit.

I will go back and shop for some food products when it slows a bit more. The staff was great, good jobs for Louisville and a friendly place.

Welcome to Louisville and I look forward to shopping with Trader Joes.

It as a fun place to shop for sure.  We have a number of them in the Chicago area.  Is this by the mall of St. Mathews?

Timothy, it sounds like Trader Joe's has it right with both low prices and great customer service! I'll probably check it out before Christmas.

Carol- The cheap price for the wine is a place for urban legend.  It is supposedly due to Chuck getting a divorce from his wife and wanting to keep her from getting any money- however it appears that the wine is cheap for market reasons and not urban legend.

Linda- it is about 2 minutes from the Mall St. Mathews in Louisville.  Same side of the street so should make for interesting traffic.

Lynda- Go before Christmas- you know what that traffic will be like!

Yes, I remember too well. I hit another car because it was bumper to bumper last year looking for Borders bookstore. (Got to blame something, right?) ;)

Erby The Lexington Kentucky Home InspectorJust a hint for some of your blogs that I was checking out, Tim.  You're stuff will look better if you put border spacing around your photos when you insert them.  It's kind of hard to read the words that are pushed right up against the photo. It's done on the photo insert "Appearance" tab when you're uploading the photos.  I usually use 10 or 20 for both vertical space and horizontal space.

You can also go back and edit the inserted photo in this blog article to see what it'd look like when you leave some space.   Just edit the blog, click on the photo, and then click on the photo insert icon.  That pictures properties will show up and let you edit them.  Note that it will also let you set the size of the picture to fit appropriately in your blog.  May take some playing with.

Hope things are well in Louisville.
