I never miss an opportunity to take visitors on a free tour of beautiful Shasta Dam. The history here is so rich and the scenery is breathtaking! Each year visitors come from all over the world to see the "Three Shastas" (Mount Shasta, Shasta Lake and Shasta Dam). Mt. Shasta stands a majestic 14,162 feet and is located about 50 miles north of Shasta Dam, truly a gorgeous site!
Directions to Shasta Dam
Shasta Dam is located about 10 miles north of Redding, CA. From Interstate 5 (I-5) take the "Shasta Dam Blvd." exit #685 and drive west about 6 miles on Shasta Dam Boulevard (also called "Highway 151"). NOTE: Exit #685 is also the main exit for the City of Shasta Lake.
CAUTION: Please be alert for bicyclists in this area. Many bicyclists ride along Scenic Route 151 to Shasta Dam.
On your way to Shasta Dam you can check out the vista point with a great view of Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake and Mount Shasta. These are my shots from the vista point.
