It was a beautiful fall day in Manayunk as the Mayor was showing up to start the press conference.
The Venice Island Underground Storage Tank Project will take three years to complete and will be 400 feet long, 75 feet wide and 25 feet deep. It will have the capacity to store up to four million gallons of water and sanitary sewage during heavy rains.
This is another project spearheaded by Mayor Michael Nutter partnering with PWD and the local residents to provide a green solution to a constantly recurring problem. I believe this project will be our Mayor’s greatest legacy down the road.
To accomplish the short and long term goals he has set for these initiatives, the co-operation and participation of many levels of government will be required. Mayor Nutter has articulated the vision and has been the driving force in reaching out to the various groups to keep the vision moving forward.
