ROCK-N-ROLL MARATHON 2011 ~ SAVANNAH, GEORGIA
I am on the plane to Savannah, Georgia as I write this post. I am heading there to run my fourth half –marathon this year. Those of you who follow my blog know that this is a passion of mine. I for whatever crazy reason have decided to make it my life-long goal to run a half marathon in every state in the U.S.
Let’s see, so far I have run most of my 13.1 mile races here in Texas but have now completed races in Las Vegas, Michigan, Louisiana and after this weekend – Georgia. I have found the thrill of planning a great vacation around my running passion. This allows me to see new places and gives me solid goals to keep me on track.
The Rock-n-Roll race in Savannah is the inaugural event this year. The race sold out months ago and there are no hotel rooms or inns with any vacancy at all! I have never been to Savannah but it must be a great city since there is such great interest in this race. Of course being a true southern gal, I know the history of this area and cannot wait to run through its streets.
I am sure that I will be taking many pictures and posting articles this weekend. There will be an excitement in the city as it begins to fill up with runners coming in from all over. I hope Savannah is ready for us!
This is one of the reasons I love participating in these races. It is difficult to find many negative people at the starting line or at the finish line. People are uplifting and are all running for various reasons. I so love the energy that I feel in these races.
I will report back after the race! Gotta go carbo load which of course is a really nice benefit of all of the running! Pasta and more pasta are on my menu for the next few days!
