You can't even imagine the chaos that is going on in our state. Most of the traffic lights are out. Trees are still on the wires and crossing over the streets. Yes, sometimes, you drive under it and pray, because you have no choice. The snow has, mostly, melted away. Our Governor, the Honorable Dannel Malloy, has been offering updates daily on the progress of the cleanup/cleanout. We have ninety-one shelters set up, so far. He, also, has the man from Connecticut Light and Power updating us. They have brought in out of state/country, linemen and now, the Connecticut National Guard to work on getting the trees removed and the power lines up, working again. They have set a deadline for 99% service by Sunday, midnight.
Here are some photos that I have taken over the last six days. You will notice that some have phone numbers posted, for those who may need help. The communities are really supporting eachother. The photo below is of my driveway and front yard, on Birch Mountain in Bolton, Ct. The next day, we lost a beautiful pine tree, three birch trees and two oaks. The towns are advising us to place the brush and/or tree limbs on the side of the road and they are coming by with a wood chipper. Clean up, has begun!
The snow was so heavy that it toppled trees. Along the back roads and on the highways, the trees just fell over. Keeney St, Glastonbury, Ct
This is one of my client's home, in Manchester, Ct. Notice the ghosts and pumpkin to the left of the snowmen! I don't think that I have ever seen Halloween decorations with snowmen, before!
Here I am with one of my clients in East Hartford, Ct. Trees are down, power is out. They have gas heat and hot water. Gas for cooking, too. That certainly, helps!
Glastonbury, Ct. Notice the sign with a number to call for help! People have really been very caring.
Another good neighbor, offering a place to go for help during the storm. This was in Manchester, Ct. I have ten clients in this neighborhood. No power and some do not have heat.
To the right, in the distance, you can see that a huge tree fell right across the road. This is on Parker Street, in Manchester, Ct. I could have taken twenty photos, of this same type of scene. This was taken, yesterday, November 3rd, Thursday, at 5pm. They are making progress. We are now down to about 270,000 people who need to have their power restored. Sunday is the target date! I believe that they will make their 99% restored power goal!
Neighbors helping neighbors! Wow! What a Thanksgiving Holiday this year, will be! Grateful to all of those people who went out of their way, to help another person in need. Bless you, all!
