Nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test November 9, 2011

The first “nationwide” Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test will be conducted on November 9th at 2pm Eastern time.  In the past, you could just flip the channel if you were watching TV or change the radio station if you wanted to avoid the siren and the announcement.

Some people are concerned that this “nationwide” announcement will create a War of the World type panic (H.G. Wells radio program) since as they try to change the channels to avoid it, it might only get reinforced as being “real”.

I just realized that this test is being conducted on November 9th, 2011.  That doesn't seem relevant until you spell it out as 11/9/11.  People into "numerology" will realize that the last three digits are 9/11.  Even dyslexic numerologists will freak out when they read it backwards as the 2011 9 11.

Homeland Security FEMA working together

What makes this test so unique is that it is truly an Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), not just a single message on a single local station.  The nationwide EAS Test will be conducted jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

So if you are stuck in traffic and hear the EAS test on the radio and switch stations only to keep finding it on every station, please do not abandon your car in anticipation of rapture!  This in time shall pass, in about 30 seconds.

Unlike Harold Camping’s predictions of rapture causing people to send him millions of dollars to him and his church, if you appreciate my prediction of this “doomsday” event, just sent me a real estate referral to:  Jim Paulson, Owner/Broker of Progressive Realty Corporation in Boise, Idaho.

Doubtful that listeners would think of a War of the Worlds scenario.

More likely they'd simply figure that the dang dish, cable, wireless, etc. was out.

Lenn, as usual, you are right. It takes longer than 30 seconds to sway the minds of the American public. I guess that is why some commercials are still 60 seconds. LOL
