Coors Brewery in Golden
Coors Brewery was founded in Golden in 1873 by Adolph Coors and Jacob Schueler; two German immigrants whose goal was to make great beer. After surviving prohibition relatively intact, Coors has grown to be one of the most popular and well known beer manufacturers in the world. Located right downtown next to Clear Creek, Coors Brewery is a great destination for your friends and family who are visiting! Coors offers tours of their facilities all day, where people can come and learn about it's very humble beginnings all the way up to their current advancements in technology and brewing. You can learn how "in 1936, Coors added "Banquet Beer" to its name. As legend goes, area miners would throw parties during hte 1800s called "Banquets"-stocked with requisite Coors. The "Banquet Beer" became a part of the Coors name as homage to lively gathering and a western legacy." Or how the movie "Smokey and the Bandit" created such a stir after featuring Burt Reynolds as Bo "Bandit" Darville who hauls 400 cases of Coors beer from Texas to Georgia. After the tour, visitors can go to the tasting room to try out some of the new creations or sit down with the old favorites.
