There were lots of great shots of trees in all their splendor at the Battle of Tippecanoe Bi-Centennial over the weekend. This tree on the east bank of Burnett's Creek caught my eye amid the beautiful red foliage.
Oh course if you are a child and it is December you are thinking, "ELF ON A SHELF"!
Dear Bruce - This is uncommon....it does look like a mushroom species & definitely as you described as nature's shelves... I am sure that a little lizard, bird or may be even a squirrel would enjoy. Hi Pam! Thanks for your visit. You are correct about the trees bearing witness to historical events. Some of them were present when the Battle of Tippecanoe happened 200 years ago!

Hi Bruce, that's a great photo and the fall colors are so beautiful down by Burnett's Creek. You know, in Red Feather we have Elf Lane, I'm sure the elves would love to have a few of those shelves to sit on! Very cool- I've never seen anything like that.
Mary, it was an autumn like no other! The leaves turned so late and the sugar maples and red/white oaks were in all their glory for the Bi-Centennial of the Battle of Tippecanoe for that first weekend in November. I had never seen those small trees that turned a pinkish red any prettier along the banks of Burnett's Creek!!
I will keep a look out for those elves, but we would probably have a better chance of seeing Elvis! ^_~
Bruce, do I know the feeling! Everyday is "kitty kat" day at my house. I hope your Thanksgiving Holiday was as relaxed as Tobbie Marble's.
Patty, we had a great Thanksgiving and we look forward to the Christmas Season. Sharon is having her family Christmas this Saturday evening! Our two cats wake us up anywhere from two to six times during the night to be let out or be let back in! Where is my youngest daughter NOW as she just had to have those two cats!!!! ^_~
My kitties sleep the entire night and the entire day for that matter. They dont go outside so they are very relaxed. They do walk all over us at night if they feel the need for attention but that's it.
I understand your youngest daughter very well as I MUST have ALL kitties... my husband puts the breaks to my insanity... and I volunteer at the shelter to I get to help lots of wonderful animals.
Patty, you are very fortunate to have full time slumbering cats. Our cats' cycle is: eat, sleep, go outside, eat, sleep, go outside. . . . .
I think that is great that you volunteer for your local animal shelter!!!
Maya, they caught my attention right away and I took the photo! Sometimes when kids see these they like to see if they are attached! ^_~ Shoot the photo NOW or it could be gone in a couple of hours!

Sylvie, thanks for stopping by today! Speaking of ideas, my youngest daughter was explaining this craze with kids called, "ELF on a SHELF"(never had heard about it!!!!) This gives me an idea for another picture. . . . . . . . ^_~

Dan, I thought this could make a decent photo when I saw it! Next year I might put one of those Christmas Elves on it for a fun picture around Christmas time!
