The Salsa Grill
One of my favorite places to eat is The Salsa Grill in Woodlawn. From the outside it doesn't look like much but from the time you sit down you'll realize just how different this restaurant is. The Salsa Grill is a Peruvian restaurant. It's located at 6644 Security Blvd., in a small strip center with an A.J. Wright store and H & R Block as well as several other stores and restaurants.
Everything I've eaten there is fantastic. My favorite is Carne Azada. The steak is cooked to perfection (I like mine rare) and it melts in your mouth. It comes served with rice, stuffed baked potatoes and sauteed vegetables. But, today I was there fore lunch and had Beef Empanadas with Caesar Salad. The beef was seasoned perfectly and the Caesar Salad phenomenal. I don't like Caesar Salad anywhere else. Skip had a cheese steak sandwich with fries.
The restaurant is small and quaint inside. They do not have a liquor license but you can BYOB.
The owner and chef, Jay, hand picks his steaks daily and they often run out if it's a busy day. If you can't get the Carne Azada then the Carribean Paella is also phenomenol. Everything on the menu is made on site, including the desserts.
The staff are always pleasant, service is fast and the food hot.
Be sure to go hungry. You won't be disappointed.
