When honey isn't really honey

By

Those who know me know that I am a real foodie, especially when it comes to purity and organic standards.  I just saw this come down the wire, and thought it was worth sharing.  If you are a honey shopper, take a look at the link below.  Local farmers markets are the best places to get honey... and if you can talk to the bee-keeper, all the better.

And on a side note, local, fresh honey will reduce seasonal allergies if consumed regularly.  So, it's a win-win for you if you buy from a local bee-keeper!  Yahoo!

Emilie - Great suggestion to buy your honey at the local farmers market.  I had no idea it would reduce seasonal allergies.  I'm making a note of that one.  Thanks for sharing.

Honey gives you enough of your local pollens to help your body build up resistance without giving you enough to react, or so I've been told.  I also know that Nettle (in a capsule) is a great herbal remedy for allergy attacks, especially when taken at the same time as a vitamin C tab.

Thanks for the comment, Laura!

Emilie, Thanks for the reminder, I use to consume lots of Honey at one point in my life. Maybe now would be a good time to purchase a jar of local stuff, again.

Please stay warm this winter. burrrrr...

Agreed!!  I always look for unfiltered, unpasturized honey.  Around north Houston there are lots of folks now selling raw local honey.  And yes, it has been very helpful for keeping me from suffering seasonal allergies.  Highly recommended!!
