Bill's Blog: Stop the Home Tax- Volunteers Need!

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential Burroughs and Chapin

The Pender County Coalition to Protect the American Dream is in the final
stages of this election.
We are asking for volunteers to work the six most populated polls on
November 6.

Please volunteer some time to help your clients, and educate the public.
Call the Association office (910) 329-1406 and sign up for a time to work
at one of the polls.

The Association still has a large supply of signs, so if you know of a corner without
a sign, stop by and pick up signs for this effort. Signs are place outside the office for after hours pick up. I will be at the Topsail Senior Center from 6am-9am and from 5:30pm-7pm. Come join me to stop this tax!

A message from our President:

Subject:  WE NEED YOUR HELP

The vote on the Pender County Transfer Tax Referendum is Tuesday, just 4
days away.   Unless you have been living under rock, you have seen in the
local media that this is a very hotly contested issue.   Leadership from
NCAR tells me that of all 16 counties facing this issue next Tuesday,
Pender County is the one most in Doubt.

As President of your Association I am personally embarrassed that the work
load for this campaign has been carried on the shoulders of so few of our
local REALTORS.   Your AE and a very few of our members have attended each
of the 4 meetings held by the County.   We have put out signs along the
road right of ways that seem to disappear nightly and spent a great deal
of time working on letters to the news media and other campaign efforts.

Its crunch time and we must have  your help, don't count on someone else
to carry your share of the load.

SIGNS:
We have a fresh supply of several hundred signs at the Board office.
Stop by and get some and put them where they can do us the most good.
They are sitting outside so you can go by after hours or over the weekend
and LET'S GET THEM OUT AND VISABLE.

VOTER WALK:
We have 4 volunteers to canvas neighborhoods and go door to door on Monday
talking to undecided voters.  Let's not sit idly by while volunteers  do
what we should be doing.   We'll have times and places later today.  Let
Jennifer know  when you can help.   HITCH UP YOUR NIKES AND HELP US SPREAD
THE WORD.

WORKING THE POLLS:
We've identified about 6 precincts that will have the most impact on this
election and would like to have folks there with signs and brochures for
one last pitch to voters as they go in to vote.   Jennifer has a sign up
sheet at the Board office.   I'M WORKING  THE SURF CITY FIRE STATION FROM
6:00 AM TILL 10:00 AM.  CALL JENNIFER AND LET'S COVER THESE POLLS.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

Nice job getting the word out.  Have you sent a link to this blog to everyone you know who lives in NC that has an email address?  It would be a great way to let them know about the vote and to let them know how pro-active you are as a REALTOR.

I fell to understand how you can call you a home tax when over 60% affects commercial and developer property. How do you propose paying for the infrastructure that developers fail to care about?

Good point John.  So basically you're telling me by approving the transfer tax I will lower the amount they might raise my taxes which I pay EVERY YEAR.

And this real estate commission has put hundreds of thousands of dollars into this fight and have provided misinformation all over the place.  Hmm...interesting who we should believe.
