How I learned to SIMPLIFY My Life in The World of Technology

I used to spend a lot of time syncing Contacts, Emails and Calendars back n forth between my IPhone, IPad and (3) Computers. I also spent sleepless nights imagining I would be out of business in a flash if my computers crashed. Everything I have done, or will be doing, is dependent on those devices. I also worried I might lose my Contacts which I had built up over 20 years of doing business as a Realtor in this beautiful sunny Palm Springs California Desert. Then, like a miracle in the night, I discovered two things that have saved me time and worry.

  • DropBox
  • Microsoft Exchange Server

I now drop all my files into Dropbox and I can access these files from any computer, from my IPad and from my IPhone. What a simply marvelous invention!Dropbox sits in the Cloud patiently waiting for me to put things in and take things out. It’s there 24/7 and it doesn’t disappear or get lost.

Then there’s the clever Microsoft Internet Exchange Server I discovered. It’s also somewhere up in those Clouds. It is the most amazing technical advancement I’ve ever come across. I NEVER have to SYNC another thing again! It’s like magic. As soon as I save an email, or make a change in my contacts or calendars, it instantly makes those same changes on all my other devices. I NEVER have to worry about SYNCING again!

I am now getting a much needed rest, now that I don’t have so many sleepless nights worrying about losing or misplacing everything. I have also learned that my IPad can do just about anything my computers do…………..so I don’t have to lug computers around wherever I go. Just the other day we had a television and cable outage in our area. I could NOT get on the Internet and I needed to pull properties for a client the following day. I was frantic. Then I remembered that my IPad was NOT dependent on my Internet working. I can take it in the car while driving cross country if I want to……so I did all my work on the IPad.

My IPad, IPhone, IPod, Dropbox and Microsoft Internet Exchange Server have SIMPLIFIED MY LIFE tremendously. Two of these are floating somewhere in the Clouds, and the other three fit into my purse! I am ready for just about anything, and it’s all thanks to the world of technology and all these little devices! Thank you Apple, Microsoft and all you Clouds somewhere up above carefully watching over me. I LOVE you all!

Now I can enjoy the simple things again like:

Life is too short.

The Pot That’s Cracked.

Well done Nancy! I am working on following your lead by re-visiting the beauty of having systems for everything. Seems we get organized, then slip back and have to get organized again. Thankfully, these advances in technology sure can make it easier to stay organized or recover a messy desk.

Kind regards.

Jason and Suzanne:

Yes, our lives do get hectic, so we need to take advantage of all the "goodies" out there to help us make better use of our time. Thanks for your comments and "Happy Turkey Day!" to you and your families.

Over the years in business from having the MLS books then fax machines then office computers now move into today and our phones can do everything anytime.  Haven't really utilized Dropbox that much so thanks for the push and the info on the exchange server.   With all the apps available you have to be careful not to overload your brain with stuff you don't need.
