As the seasons roll over and we start to cozy up inside together, my thoughts tend to naturally turn to my family and all that we have together. No matter what drama may surround us, it seems to fade away when I come home to my family.
I'm thankful for what I think of as my little cocoon. I may work and live in the outside world, but I get to come home to my little tribe of like minded people. Even when we make our own drama at home, this tribe has a way of finding the humor in almost any situation. Disagreements in this house have been known to end instantly with the question "will this matter in 20 years?"
I'm thankful that we made the move to the great state of Maine several years ago. After years of longing for a different lifestyle, we finally realized that we didn't need to wait. That was the best move we have ever made. Life is a bit slower here, a bit more pleasant and friendly, and everything we had hoped it would be. The best part is that we live a short drive away from my parents. I am fortunate to still have them both with me and love that my son is growing up where he can see his grandparents any time he wants to.
Happy Almost Winter to all! When that cold wind is blowing, and things seem a bit dim, just hunker down and start your list of all that you are thankful for. It works like a charm.
