Do You Drink Bottled Water?

By
Real Estate Agent with Surterre Properties

Do you drink bottled water? I bet at least half of you are chugging one right now or have one sitting on your desk. Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we have been ripped off. The bottled water market in America is worth over $10 Billion!

Have you ever had Evian water? Spell it backwards. N-A-I-V-E.

Our obsession with buying high priced water in a bottle is contributing to global warming. The energy that goes into making a bottle of water is astounding. To produce 31.2 billion liters of water for America’s bottled water market took approximately 17.6 million barrels of oil!

Additionally, our landfills are overflowing with plastic waste. Bottled water produces up to 1.5 million tons of plastic waste per year, and not even 20% of bottles actually get recycled!

Most bottled water is extra purified tap water (which is already purified). It is not any healthier!

So, I propose that we drink at least a couple less bottles per week.

Here are alternatives:

-Use a Brita filter. Easy, cost effective and your tap water gets purified and tastes great.

-Get a reusable bottle. SIGG makes great aluminum ones. And Kleen Kanteen makes great stainless steel ones.

-Simply drink from the tap!

After having worked on some cases involved "regulated" water, I have decided to drink spring water or water which has gone through reverse osmosis.  Brita does not get rid of many harmful things in the water including radon in high levels and radio nucleides for example.

Florida, has some of the purest underground water in the United States.  It comes from the Floridan Aquifer, which is an underground system of limestone carbonate rock that filters the water.

So what do the Cities and Counties do with this 99.9% pure water?  They load it with Fluoride and Chlorine and other Toxic Chemicals

BTW, if you drink Deer Park Bottled Water, look for Source = Madison Blue Spring, Florida on the bottle.   This is one of the most beautiful underwater caverns in Florida, and the water is incredibly pure.   Nestle Corporation operates the bottling plant over the hill and out of sight of the Madison Blue Spring State Park.

Can't wait to get off public water and back to well water.  Hate the Chlorine, Chloramine, Fluoride and all the other toxins being poured into us by the "powers" that be....

Michael:  I love my well water and am now shopping for one of those carbonating machines so I can "sparkle my own."  I agree the plastic water biz is doing a lot of damage to the environment...and little good for consumers.

Michael - And I have heard that it takes at least three liters of water to make one liter of bottled water . . .how wasteful!  I try to use my stainless bottle . . .the water tastes better out of it anyway.

As one guilty of drinking bottled water, I remember my youth when you played hard and got your refreshment from the end of the garden hose! Enjoy your day!

Michael,

We already have a Korean filtration and alkaline conversion water system.  It certainly helps to reduce the plastic carbons from becoming attached to our personal molecular structure, as well as the effects on the environment.... g

Great post- im with you.  This country has some of the best pure water there is in the world and we take it for granted.  Did you also notice that a case of water cost more than an gallon of gas...
