Only two more weekends left for fresh, locally grown fall fruits and veggies at most Fairfax County Farmers Markets. Buy local and support sustainable agriculture in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Saturday, November 12: Oldies But Goodies
Enjoy a good treasure hunt? Then you won't want to miss the 35th Annual McLean Antiques Show & Sale, featuring "antique and vintage items for beginning and advanced collectors." The show features an exceptional group of dealers representing American, English and European antiques, decorative accessories, furniture, folk art, porcelains, silver, paintings, prints, linens, Oriental carpets and rugs. Services available on-site during the show include glass repair, carpet cleaning and repair and free appraisals. Mother Daughter Storytelling Tea: Good stories bind us together. Join storyteller Margaret Chatham as she shares folktales of mothers and daughters facing problems together to win happy endings. Sunday, November 13: The World on a String
A truly riveting ensemble, The Linden String Quartet is a winner of the 2010 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. Founded in spring 2008, the quartet has enjoyed remarkable success in the last two years. Praised for its “remarkable depth of technique and brilliantly nuanced, sumptuous tonality...delivered with a palpable, infectious joy” (MusicWeb International), the group is currently the Graduate String-Quartet-in-Residence at Yale University, where the ensemble is mentored by the Tokyo String Quartet. 3 p.m. Reston Community Center's CenterStage. $30/person ($15/Reston qualified patrons.)
