Home Stager with CM Staging Solutions Inc

Toronto Home Staging Photo Dining Room AfterI'm not sure about other areas, but in the Toronto area I often come across sellers who find after staging their home for sale, they find themselves falling back in love with their home and experience a twinge of reluctancy to sell.  Don't! Admittedly when I've staged the home and made a dramatic change, which can leave a seller feeling like they're living in a new home, the reality is, looks can be deceiving and you're not living in a new home.  You're still living with the same problems and limitations the house had before you began the staging process and those problems haven't changed.

The question becomes: "Is Home Staging the same as Interior Design?"

No. The only thing home staging and interior design have in common is they both seek to provide a solution to a problem.  The problem is basically the same but the solutions between the two approaches will be very different.

With interior design, traditionally an interior designer will study and observe the limitations your home presents and the needs and challenges you present for living comfortably daily. The interior designer will then make structural modifications to the home, based on your budget to change the way your home functions and ultimately feels.

Home Staging Toronto After PictureThe home stager on the other hand, will make more superficial modifications, identify what needs to be highlighted during your listing period, and down-play the less appealing aspects of your home in order to get your home sold and getting you into a new home where your needs will be met.

Both disciplines may include painting, new floor, new light fixtures, changing furniture (whether you rent furniture or you buy) and furniture arrangement.

The interior designer however will be catering the design to your personal taste and the process can take weeks to months from the initial consult.

The home stager on the other hand, will design the staging to appeal to a large number of buyers and will not be influenced by the homeowners personal taste.  The process can take a few days to a week from the initial consult.

Both disciplines are invaluable and both will provide you with a solution, however whether you choose to stage your home or redesign your home really depends on which process of the solution will suit you.
