Jupiter is in the sky with Aries as the full moon rises over the Atlantic Ocean at St. Augustine Beach, Florida.
Last night as the moon rose over the horizon of the Atlantic Ocean, the beaches of St. Augustine Beach were nearly deserted as Mother Nature put on her show of stars. With the new technology of the Iphone, it was easy to tell that the bright star rising to the right and about thirty minutes before the moon was Jupiter. Immediately to the left of Jupiter is Aries, seen as a straight line of 4 stars. As the full moon, orange as our state fruit, rose over the Atlantic Ocean it was magical standing next to the surf rolling in and creating a mirror effect of the moonlight shining on the wet sand.
Standing on the beach, as the moon changed from a burnt orange ball into a white spotlight in the sky, I turned west and could see my shadow on the sand. The wide sandy beach of nearly 12 miles was a white ribbon stretching north to the lights of the St. Augustine Pier & south to the Matanzas Inlet. On the ocean horizon there were 5 or 6 moving lights of shrimp boats working into the night. Truly a magical memory.
Nights like this are common here in St. Augustine Beach. From the oceanfront homes and condos lining the beach, this view is a daily event. Come visit St. Augustine Beach and all our sights, both day & night time for memories of your own.
