There was an interesting article on Yahoo by Madeleine Scinto. She says think outside the box and give 10 different ways instead of wasting it on a lotto tick or a candy bar.
1. Feed a Family in India for a day with that same dollar
2. Prepare a vegetarian meal and help support local farmers
3. buy some items at the Thrift shop. Good deals and the money goes to Charity
4. Share a glass of wine with a friend. (2 buck chuck) inexpensive and still taste good
5. buy a used book, provides hours of entertainment and can be recycled
6. Put air in your tire. This will save you fuel cost to stay on top of proper inflation and save you more money
7. Reach out and touch someone. Call someone and bring a smile to a friends face long distance
8. Put the $1 in the bank and $1 per week is $52 more than you had.
Great ideas. Of course if you quit smoking and you smoke a pack a day, thats $5 a day or $35 a week or $1820 a year
