Text Based Email – today’s e-mail software allows you to choose to receive either HTML based emails (which allow graphics) or plain vanilla text based versions of those emails. Many people use Blackberrys and other PDAs to receive email these days when away from the office, and frequently HTML emails aren’t formatted for proper viewing on these portable devices. Knowing this, many email marketers have gone back to old fashioned text based emails with narrow line widths to accommodate these recipients.
So if you use a Blackberry you ought to configure it to view text based versions of all emails you receive or at least be able to toggle easily between HTML and text versions if the HTML version is difficult to read.
If you’re going to be sending text based emails through your Blackberry understand your emails won’t be able to have the fancy things HTML based emails allow such as images, links, indented past messages in block quotes, line wrapping (IE right justification), emphasis such as underlines and italics, or different font styles, sizes or colors.
So now that you’ve got a comprehensive sense of what’s what with email and email marketing, I highly recommend taking it very seriously. Not many real estate professionals realize the sole purpose of having a real estate website is building your email database. The more you build your email database, the more your business will grow.
