Great Horned Owl: A Lesson From Nature on Focus

Great Horned Owl: Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lender

~ FOCUS ~

Isn't this an amazing visual to illustrate what it means to focus?  This Great Horned Owl generally has only one thing in mind when she launches into the air like this: food!

For the owl, survival can never be taken for granted.  If the hunt is not successful, its very existence hangs in the balance.  That's sort of like where many of us find ourselves in business today.  We're grateful to still be standing, but its a desert out there.  Deals are fewer and farther between, and the competition is fierce.

Still, I know you'll succeed today!  I believe in you!

Hey Mike, those are two awesome pictures of the owl and I do sense the focus in the bird hunt for food.  FOCUS is so critical for SUCCESS in our business.  Continued success to you!

Wow powerful picture and powerful saying.  It is a desert out there, but us on AR are still here and plugging along.  Thanks for the motivation, have a blessed day.

Beautiful photos, Mike.  Hey, I just learned on Who Wants to be a Millionaire that the horned owls have very limited sense of smell and are the skunks biggest predator.  How appropriate is that for timing, LOL.

These are amazing photos, Mike. Their faces look so flat from the front it doesn't look like they have such a pronounced beak.

Great post! Thanks for stopping by my blog. No great winter photos cause it's not winter here yet. Beautiful day -- sunny, 50s, no snow on the ground (but I can see it in the mountains).

Hi Mike, These photos are simply outstanding. I have never see this type of owl before  but your capture would make Audubon envious.

Great Horned Owl: Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lenderWilliam,

I'll bet you have seen one ~ just not in flight.  Here's another photo of a Great Horned Owl at rest.

Lynda,

Thanks for the encouragement!

Ann,

I'm glad you're not snowed in.  :)

Patricia,

That she does!  (This one's a female.  They're much larger than the males.)

Lou,

You're welcome!

Jane,

That beak is shaped like an old fashioned can opener!

Juli,

They eat skunks for sure.  I've come across the remains when hiking.

Kim,

You, too!

Jordon,

Thanks for stopping by to comment; I'll see you on your blog.

Connie,

Yes we will.  Absolutely!

Hi Mike~ Love the Shots as they are spectacular.

I have a Screech Owl living in my tree but have not seen him up close up as he sleeps in the day and screeches at night. Recently I saw him flying out of the tree from the back. My trees are so tall it is hard to see where he sleeps.

I have seen one of these in flight and it scared the snot out of me!  Their wingspan is huge!  I am always afraid they are going to steal one of my dogs for a snack!
