Atlanta Real Estate Photographer to Speak at the 2012 RESA Convention in Las Vegas

By
Real Estate Agent with Georgia Elite Realty

Greetings Home Stagers and Interior Designers far and wide!  As many of you know the 2012 RESA convention is right around the corner.  I will be speaking on Feb. 2nd on a topic I have come to know very well in the past few years and that is real estate and interiors photography.  I realize that this is somewhat of a broad topic and there is no way we will cover it all.  With that in mind, I would really like to focus on a few key ideas that matter most to home stagers across the country.  So, I am coming to you all to get some ideas on what you as home stagers would like to hear discussed.

There are likely to be a wide range of skill levels in the audience so I feel it would be a good idea to cover the basics.  Beyond that, I am thinking there are more specific issues that come up time and time again and I would love to show how I overcome those obstacles.  So what would you like to learn about?  Please take a minute, leave a comment and tell me what you personally would like some help with.  You don't have to go into great detail, although you are welcome too.  Even if you do not plan on attending the conference, your feedback is valuable.

My goal is to take the feedback from here and other feelers I have put out there and structure the rest of my presentation.  Thanks in advance for all those that participate here and I look forward to seeing some of you in Vegas!

Hi Iran, That is a very nice honor to be selected to speak on a subject that you indeed know very well. While I am not a specifically stager, I do stage all my properties before photographing them. I will be watching for some great feedback on the conference and I am sure you will be awesome. Maybe you will write a couple posts and cover the key points that you present.

I am very excited to haer you speak, I do not know anything about photopgraphy or what kind of camera to use-I do not want to use an expensive camera for staging as I have dropped several~nature of the business!

I have never been able to take good close up shots and I have problems with lighting too!

I have the good fortune of a) calling you a friend and b) having you photograph so many of my stagings. There aren't enough words to describe how excited I am about you speaking at the RESA conference. Close-ups are your forte so, many will be thrilled to hear what you have to teach them.

I can't wait to meet you, after all the nice things Kathy Nielsen has said about you.

What I'd like to learn:

The optimal settings to use on my D-90.

Thank you everyone for the kind remarks.  I still need more ideas though, lol!  Don't worry, I will be covering a lot of the basics but I am also planning to throw in some more advanced ideas for those that are already up and running.

@Jackson - Right you are, the 2nd, not the 3rd... Nice catch.

@Kathy - We are definitely going to be talking about how to do the shallow depth of field shots like in the first image I posted above.

@ Michelle - I'm a Canon guy, but I'm sure we can get you and your D-90 on the right track to capture some awesome shots.

Is it the camera or the photographer. What simple point and shoot would you recommend?

It is refreshing to see a real estate photographer who takes great pics!  I have given sessions on photos and staging with pics that detracted from rather than showcasing the space.  My personal favorite was a guest bath photo with a childs potty proudly displayed on the countertop.  Cameras may be important, but common sense is paramount.  Your pics are representative of everything that good staging and photos can do to spotlight a property.  Well done.
