Snacks don't have to bust your diet. In fact, they can be quite beneficial to help you lose weight by preventing overeating at meals. The trick is to pass on the potato chips, cookies and candy and instead reach for lower-calorie options to keep your energy up throughout the day. Our home staging team often doesn't have time to stop and eat on the job, so we prefer pack and go options that are healthy and take off the edge.
Bagel - More filling that a buttery croissant, a bagel supplies iron and B vitamins. Instead of full-fat cream cheese, try topping with low fat cottage cheese, non-fat cream cheese or part-skim ricotta.
Banana - High in heart healthy potassium, bananas also contain carbohydrates for an energy boost. You can't beat their grab - and- go convenience.
Broccoli - A half cup packs a half day's supply of Vitamin C and as much Calcium as milk. Bring broccoli florets to work and enjoy with a low-fat dip. Check your teeth in the mirror before smiling!
String cheese - A lower fat version of mozzarella, string cheese is an excellent way to get calcium, and you don't need a glass or a knife.
Yogurt - this bone builder can satisfy your hunger any time of the day. Every one cup serving supplies more that 40 percent of your daily calcium needs.
Tuna - It tastes great on its own or when mixed with low fat mayonnaise and plain yogurt with some onions and chopped celery folded in. Tuna is an excellent source of Vitamin B-12 and fairly inexpensive as a protein.
Others - carrot sticks, green pepper sticks, low fat popcorn, fresh berries, grapes, sliced apples with peanut butter
